Relationship Monday: 10 Great Things About Being Single in Your 20s.

Last year was the year that I truly fell in love with life as a single 20-something woman! Loving my single life doesn't mean that I still don't desire to fall in love and get married in the future- but what it does mean is that I'm truly content in the season of life that I'm in, and excited about what's still to come while it's just me, myself and I! I wrote a blog post last year titled "How I Fell in Love with Being Single", and today's blog post is kind of the one year follow up to that!

Things I've Bought Before in This Year's Nordstrom Sale + HONEST Sale Thoughts!

I know you're probably already sick of hearing about the Nordstrom Sale before I even begin this post... but here we go! I have been shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (NSale) since 2014, when I purchased my first pair of Tory Burch riding boots, which was also my first-ever "big girl" designer purchase! That will still always be a special memory. 😊 I do think the Nordstrom Sale can be a great time to pull the trigger on a designer item that you might have been saving up for awhile on, or to get a few basic pieces for the upcoming fall season. However- do I think it's the greatest sale ever? NO! Do I think a lot of the items featured are very "basic" (especially in the 2019 sale)? YES!

You won't be seeing any massive NSale try-ons from me, or a giant haul of what I purchased- because a.) I only bought two things this year and b.) I didn't pay for two day shipping. What will you be seeing in this blog post? Well- I'll be sharing the two things I did get! And also highlighting items that are already in my closet from past years' NSales that I really liked and wear often, that are included in the sale again this year! I hope my perspective will be a little more authentic and unique than a lot of other bloggers are doing.

Relationship Monday: Things to Remember After a BAD First Date.

Time for another Relationship Monday post! Thank you all for your kind comments and DMs after last Monday's post about using dating apps. It is so fun to hear y'all's thoughts whenever I share my own views and experiences on dating and singleness, and I'm so glad last week's post resonated with a lot of y'all! Today I'm chatting about something that can often happen when using dating apps (or not as well!) - having a bad first date, and things to do and remember after one.

All White Outfit for Summer + Giveaway!

There are a few specific fashion items and trends that just scream summer. Flip flops, bright Lilly Pulitzer prints, and seersucker to name a few... but another thing that makes me think of the warmest months of the year is a chic all white outfit! Whether that's an LWD or white separates, there is something so summery about that type of outfit. I'm sharing my take on all white for summer today, as well as a fun giveaway with other bloggers!

Relationship Monday: Why I'm Glad I Gave Dating Apps Another Try.

Happy Monday and happy July! I've been sharing different monthly series blog posts on Tuesdays of each month this year, but for July the monthly series will be on Mondays- I'll be sharing a new Relationship Monday post each week this month! I've always enjoyed writing these in the past, and I haven't shared any in the last several months which means I have lots of post ideas now! I thought I would kick things off by taking a little dive into why my views on dating apps have shifted again in 2019.

What I Wore to Work: June 2019

I feel like I blinked and the month of June flew by. Happy summer y'all! My work outfits are always more colorful and fun in the warmer months, so I'm excited to share mine from this month in today's post. National Wear Your Lilly Day fell on June 21st this year, and I wore Lilly for a whole week to work leading up to that. If you're new to my work outfit recaps, I share outfit details for all of these on my LiketoKnow. It page, instead of linking each photo here! I also share my top fashion items from the month at the end of the post.

A couple times a year I enjoy sharing updated Q&A posts on the blog! You guys always send me such fun and creative questions to answer, and it's a fun way to share a little more about myself on here. As always, I loved the questions for my summer Q&A! I also got a lot of questions regarding a life update that I shared in this blog post, and I'll address all of those similar questions with a little update at the end of the post. So grab your glass of wine or a hot beverage of choice- and let's chat!

My 10 Summer Fashion Essentials.

I did a poll on Instagram Stories last week to ask y'all's thoughts for upcoming blog post topics, and a post about sharing my summer fashion essentials was by far the most popular! I wear bright colors and bold patterns year round, but I can really kick it up a notch in the warm months. I love being able to wear sandals, dresses all the time (without tights!), and being able to pull out all of my cute "weekend" clothes like rompers and tank tops. While going through my closet recently, I realized that although I do own a ton of summer clothes, swimwear and accessories, there are certain things that I tend to really wear on repeat during this time of year. Some things that you've seen me wearing on the blog or Instagram often, and a couple things that I've probably never worn for blog photos! I wanted to round up these favorites for you today, in case your closet is still lacking anything for the warm months ahead!

I saw this fun hot pink peplum dress while browsing online last month, and I knew I wanted to style it as a wedding guest dress option for a fun summer wedding. I'm also sharing a few of my my favorite places to find semi-formal and formal dresses at, so that you'll be all set for dress shopping for any weddings or other events later this summer.

Happy first day of summer, and more importantly happy National Wear Your Lilly Day to my fellow Lilly Pulitzer lovers! This is a holiday that I love to commemorate every year with a blog post, and I'm so excited to share this year's outfit with you. These pictures were taken by my photographer Kate in the vines at King Family Vineyards, which is my favorite local vineyard. It seemed very fitting to combine my love of Lilly Pulitzer with my love of Central Virginia Wineries!

MY 10 ALL-TIME FAVORITE TV SHOWS.

Time to talk one of my favorite subjects on the blog: favorite TV shows! For the past couple years, I've been writing a Fall TV Picks blog post at the beginning of the annual TV season. As much as I look forward writing that post each year, I realize that I've never done a post rounding up my absolute favorite TV shows. A few of these have been off the air for many years, so it's fun to have a place to round them all up together. All but one of these are available on popular streaming services, so if there's one you haven't seen it should be easy to find! Make sure you read to the end of the post- I'm also participating in a fun Rafflecopter giveaway with other bloggers today!

Two Month Shopping Fast - Why I'm Doing It + Have I Stuck To It?

I have done one month long shopping fasts a few times before and also blogged about that, but never one for two months.

TRAVEL GUIDE: What to See & Do in Norfolk, VA

I absolutely loved my weekend stay in the beautiful coastal city of Norfolk! After living in Charlottesville for over a year and barely hearing anyone talk about Norfolk, I'm convinced this is one of the most underrated cities in Virginia- possibly most underrated in  the South as a whole as well! I'm excited to recap everything that I got to experience in today's blog post- I already can't wait to go back again and discover even more. My friend Perrin accompanied me on this weekend trip to help capture the photographs featured in this post, and we both had nothing but good things to say about this beautiful city!

Fun fact: I have been to Norfolk once before! My parents took me to Colonial Williamsburg for our family vacation in 2003. That was actually my very first trip to the South, and last trip until I went back in 2012 for college visits! We did a day trip to Norfolk during that vacation- and apparently the South clearly made enough of a good impression on me that I wanted to move there years later. πŸ˜‰I was really excited to come back to Norfolk as an adult!

Coming to you this Tuesday morning to chat about my favorite thing that I've discovered in 2019. FAMILY DINNER: My Dinner Club + How to Start One!

I'm so excited to be sharing today's blog post, since it's about one of my very favorite things! In December, myself and three of my friends decided on a whim to start a weekly dinner club, which my friend Eden named Family Dinner. Since then, our little has expanded to six of us, and we meet faithfully most Wednesdays (and the occasional Thursday) to share dinner and fellowship together.
For my Tuesday blog post series this month, I wanted to talk about different favorite things of mine! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get today's blog post up for Tuesday, since I had quite a busy weekend. So forgive me for getting this up a couple days late- I promise next week's post in this series will be up Tuesday as planned! πŸ˜‰

As soon as I got this skirt in the mail a couple months ago, the first thing I could think of was "This makes me feel like a human Popsicle!" A human Popsicle in a flattering way that is. πŸ˜‰ While I don't eat Popsicles very often anymore, they were my favorite summer treat for years when I was growing up. Plus- they're often super colorful and just a fun symbol of the summer season. Anyways, I shared my Popsicle skirt on Instagram a few months ago, but I've been wanted to give it a blog post as well!

HOTEL REVIEW: Why You Should Stay At Hilton Norfolk The Main!

I spent Memorial Day Weekend of this year visiting the beautiful coastal city of Norfolk, VA! I was delighted to work with VisitNorfolk for this fun press trip. My hotel for the weekend was Hilton Norfolk The Main, and I am in no way exaggerating when I say this was my favorite hotel that I've stayed at in quite awhile! I had such a fantastic experience here that I wanted to recap that separately from my Norfolk Travel Guide (which will be published in a couple weeks!).

I link every outfit on my page on LiketoKnow.it, which you can access through the LTK app, or online on your computer! 😊I often wear older things from my closet to work, but I always try and link something similar if what I'm wearing isn't for sale anymore.

TRAVEL GUIDE: Outdoor Fun in Virginia's Alleghany Highlands

I spent last weekend visiting and exploring the Alleghany Highlands region of Virginia with my dad! I actually discovered this part of the state via... Instagram! Last spring, I saw a gorgeous photo on Instagram of Falling Spring Falls, which is an incredible waterfall in Covington, in the heart of the Alleghany Highlands. I knew that I had to eventually plan a trip to see this stunning waterfall, and I also wanted to see more of the region near it. Music Festival Season Ready with Babbleboxx!

Today's blog post is sponsored by Babbleboxx.com. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Southern Belle in Training! #BabbleboxxFestivalDays

Concert and music festival season is officially upon us! Here's a fun fact about me: a lot of people that I meet assume that I go to shows and festivals all the time because of what I do for my day job (on-air radio host). That's actually not true at all, at least currently! Despite the popular stereotype, most radio hosts aren't just automatically given free tickets to every show that comes to town. (I do get them sometimes, which is awesome, but definitely not all the time!) Anyways, it's actually a goal of mine over the next year or two to start going to more shows- what's better than live music by one of your favorite artists up close and personal? I'm looking forward to going to a country concert in two weeks to kick off this concert season! As far as music festivals go, I've only ever been to one. It was actually a Christian music festival back in New England one summer when I was in high school! I spent the weekend attending it and camping at a nearby campground with people from the church I attended. I remember that the last night we were there it started downpouring as the last band took the stage... wasn't as fun to be camping in a tent that night! πŸ˜‚

Anyways- considering that the story above is currently my only music festival experience, I think it's high time I add another music festival to my bucket list! Sometimes radio hosts are able to get media passes to festivals, and get perks like going backstage to interview artists! That sounds SO COOL and is definitely something I'd love to do in the future. Anyways- I was so excited when Babbleboxx selected me as a recipient for their Festival Days box! This box is filled with curated items that are perfect to wear or take to the next music festival or concert that you attend. Let's dive in and see what I received and reviewed!

10 Things I Need To Do For My Blog (+ Things I'm Glad I Have Done!)

I can't believe that come September, I will have been blogging for seven years! (I also can't believe I'll be halfway through my 20s in September, but that's another discussion.) My strategy and goals with blogging have definitely changed a lot since I published my first outfit post as a college freshman- which is good! But as I'm starting to reflect on the years so far in preparation for year seven, I'm starting to make a list of things that I really should be doing for my blog or as a blogger. I'm writing all of these publicly on my blog to 1) hold myself accountable to actually do them this spring and summer (if I publish goals on the blog I'm a lot more likely to do them!), 2) to give you an inside look at all the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes into running a successful blog if you're not a blogger yourself, and 3) if you are a fellow blogger, I'd love to hear in the comments if you've done any of these things and they worked for your blog.

Nashville Travel Diary.

I traveled to Nashville for the first time last month, and I'm finally recapping everything for you today! Nashville is a super trendy tourism spot right now, and of course it's a huge destination for bachelorette parties. My dad had a work conference in Nasvhille, so my mom and I joined him and made it a long weekend family vacation. Before my trip, tons of friends told me that I would love everything about Nasvhille, and some even said I might love it so much that I'd want to move there! Needless to say- I had big expectations. After visiting, I can say Nashville exceeded some expectations, but definitely fell short in other ways- which I'll get into later!

The BEST Shein Buys for Spring/Summer.

For a good few years now, I've loved shopping at Shein! I feel like a lot of bloggers also shop there and promote their items, so I'm guessing you might have heard of this retailer. 😊I like to think of Shein as kind of an online only version of Forever 21. They always have the trendiest clothing, accessories, shoes and swimwear, and at really low prices. Similar to F21- the quality isn't always the greatest on everything, but the prices are low and there are gems to be found!
