What I Wore to Work: July 2020

I can't believe summer is about halfway over now! What even is this year? The day move by so slowly, but the months are quickly blending together. Hopefully I'm not the only one who feels that way?

I have slightly less work outfits to share for July than I have for the past few months. Part of that was because of some time off that I recently had from work, and there were also a few days this month I forgot to snap pictures of my outfits. It's been a really hot month in Virginia so the AC at work has been even colder than normal, so you'll also notice I wore more jeans to work this month than the last couple! During the hottest months of the year I'm always the coldest at work- funny how that is!

How I've Been Working Out During the Pandemic.

2018 is the year I rediscovered my passion for fitness, and working out several times a week was a main priority in my life from then until the pandemic began in March. Having my fitness studio close and workout options suddenly become very limited was definitely a challenge for me this spring, but I've been powering through.

Columbia SC Travel Diary

I can't believe it's already been two months since I headed to Columbia, SC for Memorial Day Weekend this year! I wanted to write this blog post before it got too far into the future. Columbia is a cool little city that's so conveniently located to other notable places in the Carolinas. This most recent trip was my third time visiting the area, and I'm sure I might have other trips in the future as well! I don't feel like I know Columbia quite well enough to do a full Travel Guide (especially since I've only stayed with friends and never in any hotels there), but I did want to share the few recommendations I did have as reference for anyone who might be visiting in the future!

(At the time that I was in Columbia in May 2020, COVID-19 cases were still pretty low in the area. They've since increased significantly, and I probably wouldn't have gone if my trip was this month! Before making any out-of-state travel this year, make sure to check case numbers and local regulations of the place you'd like to visit. 😊)

Blogging FAQ: How I Balance Blogging & Working Full Time

Let's talk today about balancing blogging and a full-time job! It isn't always easy, but if you set your mind to it you can definitely accomplish both for the longterm. I'll have been blogging for 8 years come September. For the first four years I was a full-time student, for the fifth year I balanced broadcasting school and a few part time jobs along with blogging, and finally for the past three years I've blogged and worked full-time in radio. So blogging has never been my main focus, and I've been able to continue doing it and adapt it based on my jobs, daily schedules, and places I've lived!

#Influenced: Things I've Bought From Bloggers

I'm very adamant about the fact that I prefer to be called a blogger instead of an influencer, but the truth is that bloggers do have influence! When I discover something I like, I want you to try it and like it too. Whether that's a fashion item, beauty product, travel destination, book to read... etc!

But even as a blogger myself, I still find myself influenced by others. There are certain bloggers whose recommendations I really trust and have bought from over the years. Today I thought it would be fun to round-up all of my blogger inspired purchases from recent years!

TRAVEL GUIDE: Mathews VA + The Middle Peninsula

I spent the 4th of July weekend this year in Mathews, Virginia. Mathews is both the name of the county and the main town in the area. Mathews County is actually the second smallest county in the state, and the entire surrounding area has a quintessential small town slow pace of life. While this isn't a destination that would normally be on my summer radar, it was the perfect place to safely escape to for a few days during COVID-19. This county has had one of the lowest case counts in the entire state, and I felt extremely safe traveling and visiting there due to the natural social distancing that comes from being in a more rural place.

I wanted to get this Travel Guide up as quickly as possible, so that there's still a few more months of warm weather left for fellow Virginians (or those from neighboring states) to plan their own escape here to enjoy the relaxing pace of life and beautiful sights. Let's get to it!

4th of July Weekend 2020 - Sales to Shop!

Happy 4th of July weekend! Yet another holiday coming and going during the pandemic... but we have no control over that. All we can do is celebrate America the best ways we know how this weekend (while being socially distanced from large groups and as safe as possible)!

It has been a tough first half of 2020 in the US, and not just because of COVID-19. There has been political turmoil for the election year, the horrific murder of George Floyd and the deserved outrage that followed, unemployment levels skyrocketing nationwide (I guess that one is due to COVID)... my point is things haven't been easy this year for a lot of reasons. There's still so much work for all of us to do going forward into the second half of the year! But with all that said, on this 4th of July weekend I am still so proud to be an American. We still have so many freedoms and rights here in this country that so many people in oppressive nations around the world would give their lives to have, and I don't ever want to take that for granted.

I saw this mural when I was in Columbia, SC a few weeks ago, and I thought I would save the photo to post for this weekend. May God Bless America! 🇺🇸
