HOTEL REVIEW: Why You Should Stay At Hilton Norfolk The Main!

I spent Memorial Day Weekend of this year visiting the beautiful coastal city of Norfolk, VA! I was delighted to work with VisitNorfolk for this fun press trip. My hotel for the weekend was Hilton Norfolk The Main, and I am in no way exaggerating when I say this was my favorite hotel that I've stayed at in quite awhile! I had such a fantastic experience here that I wanted to recap that separately from my Norfolk Travel Guide (which will be published in a couple weeks!).

What I Wore to Work: May 2019.

I feel like I blinked and the month of May went by! May is always one of my favorite months of the year, so I'm a little sad to see it go, but also excited for summer. It's the last Tuesday of May, which means it's time again to share my work outfits from this month! I enjoy sharing these daily on my Instagram Stories. I link every outfit on my page on LiketoKnow.it, which you can access through the LTK app, or online on your computer! 😊I often wear older things from my closet to work, but I always try and link something similar if what I'm wearing isn't for sale anymore.

TRAVEL GUIDE: Outdoor Fun in Virginia's Alleghany Highlands

I spent last weekend visiting and exploring the Alleghany Highlands region of Virginia with my dad! I actually discovered this part of the state via... Instagram! Last spring, I saw a gorgeous photo on Instagram of Falling Spring Falls, which is an incredible waterfall in Covington, in the heart of the Alleghany Highlands. I knew that I had to eventually plan a trip to see this stunning waterfall, and I also wanted to see more of the region near it. I'm excited to be recapping our weekend trip today and sharing some of the natural gems I found in Alleghany Highlands!

Music Festival Season Ready with Babbleboxx!

Today's blog post is sponsored by Babbleboxx.com. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Southern Belle in Training! #BabbleboxxFestivalDays

Concert and music festival season is officially upon us! Here's a fun fact about me: a lot of people that I meet assume that I go to shows and festivals all the time because of what I do for my day job (on-air radio host). That's actually not true at all, at least currently! Despite the popular stereotype, most radio hosts aren't just automatically given free tickets to every show that comes to town. (I do get them sometimes, which is awesome, but definitely not all the time!) Anyways, it's actually a goal of mine over the next year or two to start going to more shows- what's better than live music by one of your favorite artists up close and personal? I'm looking forward to going to a country concert in two weeks to kick off this concert season! As far as music festivals go, I've only ever been to one. It was actually a Christian music festival back in New England one summer when I was in high school! I spent the weekend attending it and camping at a nearby campground with people from the church I attended. I remember that the last night we were there it started downpouring as the last band took the stage... wasn't as fun to be camping in a tent that night! 😂

Anyways- considering that the story above is currently my only music festival experience, I think it's high time I add another music festival to my bucket list! Sometimes radio hosts are able to get media passes to festivals, and get perks like going backstage to interview artists! That sounds SO COOL and is definitely something I'd love to do in the future. Anyways- I was so excited when Babbleboxx selected me as a recipient for their Festival Days box! This box is filled with curated items that are perfect to wear or take to the next music festival or concert that you attend. Let's dive in and see what I received and reviewed!

Designer Diaries: David Yurman X Crossover Ring Review.

One piece of feedback that I received in my recent reader survey was that a lot of you really liked my past Designer Diaries blog post from last year! I meant to turn it into a regular blog series at the time, so we're finally going to make that happen now. 😊I'm not often one to really splurge on clothing, jewelry, or accessories, so when I do make a bigger purchase I try to be really thoughtful about it. I hope these Designer Diaries posts share a bit of insight into why I decided to pull the trigger on a pricier item, and also if I think it was worth it!

Monticello Wine Trail: Chestnut Oak Vineyard

A few weekends ago, my friend Liane came up from North Carolina to visit! On the Saturday that she was here, we were able to hit three wineries in one day- aka my perfect Charlottesville weekend. Today I'm recapping the first of three that we visited, Chestnut Oak Vineyard.

Results of My 2019 Blog Reader Survey!

Thank you so much to all of you who took last week's annual blog reader survey! It's been so helpful to for me to go through all the responses, and learn more about what y'all like and don't like seeing on the blog and social media. Each year I love sharing the results of the survey and which ideas I'm going to implement- so let's dive into that today!

Flamingo Skirt + My Summer 2019 Bucket List!

I think this is by far the most FUN outfit that I've worn in 2019! It's a pet peeve of mine when bloggers refer to everything they wear as their "favorite item" (you can't have a new favorite five days a week on Instagram!)... but y'all this skirt really is my new favorite, haha! Also sharing a little summer bucket list in today's post!

Floral Maxi Dress + A Hidden Photo Spot!

I've been so excited to share this beautiful floral maxi dress with y'all! This is the ideal spring dress. I'm currently focused on buying more breezy and beautiful dresses that would be good for wearing to local wineries this summer, and this one fit the bill perfectly! I actually already wore it for a day of winery hopping this past weekend, and I got so many compliments. 😊
