Neutral Thanksgiving Outfit + My Thanksgiving Plans!

In the spirit of November, let's chat Thanksgiving! I think this outfit would be perfect to wear for a Thanksgiving meal, and there's a high chance I might be wearing something similar next Thursday. I also wanted to share my Thanksgiving plans for this year with y'all, since they changed a few weeks ago!

If you've been following me awhile, you know that outfits filled with bright colors and bold patterns are my personal aesthetic. The more neon and colorful, the better! But in the fall, I tend to get in the spirit of the season and wear more neutral outfits than I do at other times of the year. Black and brown hues might not be my favorite colors, but I love how they all came together in today's outfit! A pair of black jeans paired with a camel colored sweater is such a classic look for November- and I think it would be perfect for Thanksgiving as well!

I've only had these jeans for about a month, but I'm already obsessed with them. They run TTS and are so comfortable! They're not super skinny jeans, but also not flare either- a true straight leg jean with a great fit. I'm also loving this Chicwish sweater- it's such a versatile piece and I know I'll be able to wear it with a lot of other fall and winter outfits to come.

Now let's chat my Thanksgiving plans! 😊 I was originally supposed to be having a very unique holiday this year. I was supposed to be leaving two days from now on Friday for a nine day trip to Spain with my mom! We went to Italy together with a tour company in 2017, and we were going to be traveling with the same company again. My mom unfortunately ended up injuring her shoulder a few weeks ago, and we ended up unexpectedly postponing the trip. There is a chance she might need surgery, and that would probably be a much higher chance that would happen if she did such a large trip with the injury. So we ended up re-booking last week, and we will be going to Spain in mid-May 2020 instead. I was initially pretty bummed, but now I'm actually more excited to go next year! It also worked out flight-wise- had we gone to Spain this month, I would've had a crazy flight schedule involving 3 connections. I was flying solo (as my mom was coming from Maine) so I was a bit nervous to navigate that all myself. Now I have flights direct to Spain from DC next May! So it all worked out- I'm getting excited for next spring!

With our trip being cancelled pretty last minute, I wasn't sure what to do as far as Thanksgiving plans go. I decided not to take any PTO for the earlier part of the week and to save that for this winter. (I do get Thanksgiving and Black Friday off so it's still a four day weekend.) I was planning to stay here in Charlottesville and have a chill couple days off, but my parents kindly bought me a last minute flight home to Maine! I'll only be there three days, but I'm really looking forward to it. This is actually the first Thanksgiving I'll have been home with family for in six years! Crazy right? My dad has already agreed to take me Black Friday shopping too haha! It should be a restful few days, and a nice little break before a crazy month of December.

I'd love to hear about your Thanksgiving plans! And what type of outfit you're wearing for the holiday this year.

    God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese

  1. Such a great outfit for Thanksgiving! I love the color of that sweater paired with black jeans! Sorry to hear your trip had to be postponed, but it's understandable why. Wishing your mom a quick recovery!

I will be preparing and cooking a turkey so I will be wearing a cardigan outfit as it's easier to take off if I need to. Sharing the outfit on my blog tomorrow :)

  3. Love that outfit - your hair sets it off. Would you like my list for your Black Friday shopping? Not big. :)

  4. What a cute outfit! I am pretty sure I have that same cape too. Love the neutral sweater, so chic. I am the same way, I am all bright colors/Lilly usually, but I do love a good neutral outfit in the fall. I am so glad you get to spend Thanksgiving with your family. That is so important. That is also sooo nice you have Black Friday off too. I’m taking a little bit extra off this year and we’re going to spend Thanksgiving with both families, since Jake is working Christmas. My parents are hosting and invited his parents. It will be fun! Our families haven’t been together since the wedding, but we all get along great. Both families have a lot in common.

  5. I love your outfit! That's crazy about your mom and your original travel plans. Hopefully your mom is okay! I'll be spending thanksgiving with my parents and fiancé here in town so no travel plans.
