Ramblings:
  • Stay at home order: Well folks- it finally happened for us here in Virginia. We got our stay at home order from the governor on Monday. Ours came a bit later than I was expecting- our neighbor states of North Carolina and Maryland each declared before we did. The fact we got one wasn't the surprise... the surprise to me was that ours is until June 10th! To my knowledge, that's the longest stay at home order that I'm aware of. Honestly- that news was a bit hard to process. I was expecting end of April, maybe first week of May. June 10th is a long time from today. But I'm continuing to take things one day at a time,  and trusting that someday a three month period of social distancing will seem like a distant memory.
  • Teacher shout-outs on air: I don't share a ton from my day job on the blog, but I wanted to share this with y'all. Last Friday on the Morning Show, my co-host Marc and I did something really special. We invited local teachers and school administrators to call in and give shout-outs to their students, since they never got to say proper goodbyes as their time was cut short. It was so special!! I put the replay of the segment on our station website which you can check out here

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: Second weekend of social distancing! Friday after work I did groceries, but other then that I stayed home. My main house organization projects were decluttering the coat closet and laundry closet that my roommate and I share. I also spent a good amount of time outside on Sunday as the weather was beautiful. Although I didn't do much, I feel the weekend was as success because I managed to stay in pretty positive spirits- which honestly seems like an accomplishment right now.
  • This weekend: Weekend three of social distancing, let's go! Carrying on last weekend's closet organizing momentum, I'm hoping to get started on organizing my bedroom closet this weekend. And working ahead on the blog! And sleeping in. Big plans haha!

Purchases:
  • I've loved the look of the Gal Meets Glam dresses since Julia Engel released her first collection almost two years ago- but I'd held off on buying anything because I couldn't justify them at full price. Last week while browsing some of the great online sales, I found some GMG dresses from last year seriously discounted! I purchased my first one for under $50, can't wait for it to arrive.

Wishlist:
  • Of course now that my first Gal Meets Glam dress is on the way, I already want another. I almost got this one instead of the one I ordered!
  • Tory Burch Miller Sandals NEVER go on sale... this is an incredible deal on a shoe that is worth its price tag!
  • The cutest gingham shift dress for under $50- this would be a darling Easter dress.
  • This tie-waist dress is so cute, and I think it would also be great to wear on July 4th.
  • I am obsessed with these cute and colorful patterned shorts

Currently reading: Open Book by Jessica Simpson - I'm almost done reading it, and I know this is going to be my first five star book review of 2020! I knew Jessica's memoir had a lot of hype going into reading it, but I'm here to tell you I think all of it was 100% worth all the praise its gotten. If you love early 2000s pop culture, it's a must read! I also have enjoyed reading so much about Jessica's faith. I was always a diehard Team Britney fan growing up, but now I'm definitely a Jessica Simpson fan as well.

Recipe of the week: Oven Fried Chicken from Soulfully Made - I actually haven't made this yet but it's on the menu for tonight's dinner. It sounds so tasty and I can't wait to try it. Drumsticks are such a cheap meat dish to make and seem very practical right now!

Song of the week: Boyfriend by Mabel - I really hope this song become a big radio hit here in the US! It's so fun and a perfect follow-up to Mabel's first hit Don't Call Me Up.

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Covering the Bases - Krista let her cat Dixie take over her blog for the day... and y'all I think this might become one of my favorite blog posts of all-time for 2020. No joke! Well done Krista and Dixie!
  • Heather Bien - Heather shared an easy DIY for repurposing fancy candle jars- I'm planning to try this once I finally burn through one of my beloved and scarcely used Capri Blue candles.
  • Thrifty Pineapple -  Angela shared a detailed blog post on how she organized her blog closet- so helpful to me as this weekend I'm planning to organize my bedroom one!

On the blog this week:

      God Bless,

  1. I love that you and your on-air partner are having local teachers call in and give shout-outs to their students! That is such a wonderful way to use your platform. Our stations here in Myrtle Beach are highlighting local businesses that are still open like restaurants doing take out. It's been a great way to give them exposure to the community while helping their businesses.

  2. Open Book is next on my Overdrive cue! I've heard such good things that I'm really looking forward to reading it! And just totally bought that gingham dress in green and am SO excited. Do I need it? No. Do I want it. Yes. I'm just doing my part to stimulate the economy...

  3. I just downloaded Jessica Simpson's book on audible and I am looking forward to reading it. I am glad you are staying positive through this difficult time and looking for ways to uplift the community (I love the shoutouts from teachers idea).

  4. We just got put under a stay at home order, I’m not sure if they’ve set an ending date yet though. I need that Gal Meets Girl dress, I’ve always wanted one. That is such a good price. I am adding this recipe to my list. So many good ideas on your post.
