In Honor of #FREEBRITNEY.

Today (November 12th, 2021) is the day that Britney Spears's conservatorship is supposed to finally be dissolved in court. Everyone following the #FREEBRITNEY movement knows that this has been a very long time coming. Last month, I styled a Britney Spears concert t-shirt for the blog, and as soon as I remembered that her final conservatorship hearing was coming up, I decided to save these photos for today!

3 Current Fashion Trends I Just Don't Get (+ One I Do Like!)

Fashion trends come and go, and I do my best to keep up with them. I think my personal style is like 50% classic (preppy, timeless and feminine), and 50% trendy. While there are usually some trends each year that I love, I've found that in recent years there's more and more that I'm not into. (Maybe that means I'm getting old?! 😉Haha.) Let's start off this week on the blog by chatting about the three current trends that I personally *don't get*. And I'll also share one that I've been surprisingly loving! That one is is something I'm wearing in these photos- can you guess it?

Midi Skirt with Sneakers: The 2019 Trend I'm On Board With.

The older I get, I feel like the less likely I am to try certain trends. In high school and college, I was all about it. I knew that I loved wearing bright colors and fun prints, but I didn't have much of a sense of my personal style yet aside from that.  Now I'm pretty selective about trying new trends- I don't feel pressured anymore to try ones that aren't something I'd wear if they weren't "in." Today's post though features one big 2019 trend that I'm glad I have finally come around and embraced: midi skirts with sneakers!

Nashville Tourist Outfit.

Happy Thursday! Today I'm sharing an outfit that I wore in Nashville a few weeks ago. I normally only share camera photos for outfit posts on the blog, but today I'm mixing things up a little bit as these are actually all iPhone photos.

What to Wear to a Baseball Game.

Spring and summer means that baseball season is in full swing! When I put this outfit together, the first thing that came to mind was "This would be so great to wear to a baseball game." I don't have any to attend on my agenda right now- but I'm going with that for the theme of this post! (Note: these photos were actually taken at the beautiful UVA campus in Charlottesville. But this outfit still makes me think of baseball games- haha!)

So... get this. Before Summer 2016 (that's the summer right after I graduated college)- I had never been to a baseball game before! Isn't that insane?! I grew up in Maine, and we have a very popular minor league team there called the Portland Seadogs. I grew up figure skating, and my ice rink in Portland was actually next-door to the stadium that the Seadogs played at in the summer! But despite that, I never made it to a game. A lot of people in Maine are also huge Boston Red Sox fans, but similarly with the Seadogs, I didn't have any huge Boston sports fans that were a big part of my life, so it wasn't something I grew up loving. The college that I transferred to in Charlotte and ended up graduating from didn't have baseball as a sport, so I didn't have an option to go to college baseball games either. To be honest- I never really thought much about baseball at all until I finally made it to a game!

WELL - my chance to go to a baseball game finally came two summers ago! Charlotte's minor league team, the Knights, have a fairly new stadium right in the heart of Uptown. I went to a game with my roommate at the time, Ciera, and her family. I also went to a Greensboro Grasshoppers game that summer with Cara from Caralina Style. Baseball games are so much fun- especially minor league ones I think!! It's an excuse to enjoy a beer or other cold beverage, treat yourself to tasty ballpark food, and enjoy a warm spring or summer evening outside with friends. Some nights at the ballpark are themed as well and there are giveaways- I won a free t-shirt at the game I went to with Cara that I still wear frequently to the gym. To be honest, I still don't completely understand all of the rules of baseball, but it's also not the hardest sport to follow along with either! The best part of all is that minor league games are pretty cheap to get tickets to, so it's an affordable way to have a fun evening. Vermont had its own minor league team, and I'm still a little bummed I never made it to a game while I lived there. Ah well!

Anyways, if I get the chance to go to any baseball games in Virginia this season, I feel like I'll wear this outfit or one very similar!! A casual fitted dress paired with a jean jacket and Converse seems like the ideal outfit for a summer sporting event. You'll look and feel cute, but will still be comfortable and not be overdressed! My dress is actually a clearance rack find from a few months ago (it was only $10!). The good thing about striped dresses the one I'm wearing is it wouldn't be hard to find one like this from another retailer - this one is similar!!

I'm really excited about tomorrow's blog post. Grocery Month will be starting on the blog! I first got the idea to do this on Instagram, after I posted a Story about something to do with grocery shopping several weeks ago, and my DMs blew up after! Clearly a lot of y'all enjoy grocery shopping and talking groceries as much as I do, so I got the idea to do Grocery Month for May. In these blog posts I'll be visiting all of the grocery store chains that Charlottesville has, and reviewing them! Which meet my personal grocery shopping needs best (as a single female who lives alone), which have the best selections of products, which are most affordable, etc. I've never done a blog post series like this before, so I'm not really sure where it will go, but I sure am excited!

Winter Airport Outfit + Cutest Luggage EVER.

Airport and travel style can be tricky, and especially so in the colder months. You don't want to be overdressed, but you don't want to look like a total bum either. In today's blog post I'm sharing an idea for a winter flying outfit, and also talking about my new favorite luggage, which I personally think is the cutest luggage ever. 😉

What to Wear to Fly

The way that I dress for flying is highly dependent on three things: my destination, amount of layovers, and most importantly, what time of day my flight leaves at! Obviously if I am flying to a warm weather destination, I'm not going to wear a huge coat and snow boots on the plane. And vice versa, if I'm headed to an equally cold destination, I won't be spotted in warm weather clothing. If I have a brief direct flight, I sometimes do like to dress up for flying. However, a long day of running between multiple airports isn't the time for cute clothing. So the duration of my flights and amount of layovers also determine how I dress!

And lastly- what time of day the flight is at! In college, most of my flights home to Maine were evening or late afternoon flights, so I'd have the whole day to get ready. They were also pretty short and easy direct flights, so sometimes I'd enjoy dressing up and looking nice to fly. In the past couple years, I've become more fond of 6 am flights. If you're able to get out of your home area super early, then you have the whole day ahead of you to enjoy your destination, instead of coming in super late at night! However, waking up at 3:30 am for a flight means that I'm no longer putting together cute airport outfits. I want to be comfortable and put together, but something that doesn't require a lot of effort. The outfit that I'm wearing in today's post is exactly the type of thing that I'd wear for a winter 6 am flight! These leggings are very comfortable, and they're under $15! My sneakers are super lightweight and they match a lot of outfits, and nothing beats a sports bra and cute sweatshirt combo for an early flight.

I've gotten a ton of questions about this luggage since I debuted it on Instagram during my Kentucky trip earlier this month. I'd had my old luggage set since middle school or high school, and it had been with me through tons of vacations and many moves back and forth from college to home. While it's still in decent condition considering how much I've used it, I knew it was time to treat myself to some shiny new luggage for holiday travels! I've seen certain luggage sets that are popular with other bloggers, but I wanted to find my own unique set. I fell IN LOVE after finding my set! Tiffany Blue is my favorite color, and it couldn't be a more perfect match. It also comes in tons of other fun colors! Two suitcases are included in the set, and they're both spinner suitcases. The suitcase that I brought to Kentucky got slightly scuffed on one of the flights, but I used a Magic Eraser on it when I got home and now it looks brand new again!

Speaking of flying- this post comes at an appropriate time, as tomorrow I'm flying away for a New Year's weekend trip! Sadly I'm not going somewhere much warmer than New England. I'm leaving negative temperatures in Vermont for... temperatures in the teens. Whooo!! Such warmth- lol! I'm flying out-of-state to visit a high school friend who recently moved away from Maine. It's a crazy story of how we got back in touch that I hope to share soon! Anyways- this trip is going to be a true vacation for me. I'm actually taking a blog social media and blogging break for four days, something I rarely do! But it is much needed, coming out of a very busy few months on both my blog and at my day job. I need some time to decompress and refocus before starting 2018 off strong! I have one more prescheduled blog post that will go up tomorrow, but other then that this is my sign-off for the year. It will be kind of nice to be traveling and not feel the need to Insta-Story/Snapchat/Tweet everything, or lug around my DSLR to take pictures of everything for the blog. Sometimes life is just meant to be lived! 😉 If y'all are really interested in where I'm going, I can do a mini travel guide of sorts in January and talk about where I visited.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's blog post- my last one of the year and another annual favorite for me to write!
