Midweek Ramblings.

{I finally got to walk the campus of Darden, UVA's business school, last week! It's so beautiful. Follow me on Instagram @miss_alk}

Ramblings:
  • 2020 reader survey: Thank you so much to everyone who has already taken this. If you haven't yet- I'd appreciate it so much if you took five minutes to answer my blog's reader survey for this year! Reading your feedback helps me so much with planning content for my blog and Instagram. I'm also doing a fun giveaway for everyone who is entering. I look forward to recapping the results of it soon!
  • Photo book adventure: I shared on Instagram Stories and in last week's Midweek Ramblings post that I was excited over the weekend to check off the final item on my quarantine bucket list: making and ordering a photo book online from my college years / time living in Charlotte. Well- I was seriously underestimating how much time that would take! I spent three hours working on it on Saturday... and I actually didn't even start making the book yet. It took me three hours just to narrow down my thousands of photos to 300 photos... and that's only from my first two years in Charlotte! What even?! I knew I was a photo hoarder but I didn't realize how much of one, haha! I'm not trying to make a bible sized photo book here. 😂Needless to say it isn't done yet, I still have a lot of sorting to do of photos from my other two years there. Wish me luck!

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: Spent my final April weekend the same way I spent the three before it... at home! For cleaning projects: I tackled deep cleaning my car and re-organizing my desk. I also did some cooking, watched a good bit of Netflix, and worked ahead on the blog. A super mellow but productive weekend.
  • This weekend: For the first time in over a month, I have weekend plans out of my house! Granted they are quarantine approved plans, but still- PLANS! Friday night my main group of girlfriends and I are getting takeout from the same restaurant and planning to eat it together outside (6 ft apart of course, and weather depending!). And on Saturday Abigail and I have a roommate-date planned! It's something we can do safely without interacting with other people, but does involve getting out of Charlottesville for the day. I can't wait for both!

Purchases: Got a few goodies in the Sephora sale!
  • Looking forward to trying this dry shampoo that I've heard great things about.
  • I also purchased three different volumizing products that I'm excited to test and review for a blog post: this one, this one and this one.
  • I've never been a big fan of most drugstore brands of makeup remover wipes, so excited to try these.

Wishlist:

Currently reading: Heartstopper by Joy Fielding - Pretty much since social distancing started I've only wanted to read non-fiction books or really light fiction reads, but it was finally time to get back into a thriller. Joy Fielding is probably my favorite crime/thriller author, so I'm excited to get more into this book.

Recipe of the week: Chicken Pot Pie from The Pioneer Woman - Chicken Pot Pie is one of my favorite comfort foods, but I'd never attempted making it myself before. I used The Pioneer Woman's recipe for the filling, and the most amazing pie crust recipe from this cookbook for the crust. OMG this was GOOD!! Definitely in the running for one of my top things I've made in quarantine. I don't think I can ever eat frozen chicken pie again.

Song of the week: Somewhere Only We Know by Keane - this is one of those songs that I'd heard several times over the years and liked, but could never remember when I last heard it, or what is was called and who it was by! I watched He's Just Not That Into You on Netflix this weekend, and when this song came on in the movie I finally Shazamed it. I've been listening to it on Spotify since!

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Lonestar Looking Glass - Alice and her family recently moved into the most charming home in Memphis, and she shared all the details on decorating their gorgeous front porch in this post. It looks straight out of Southern Living!
  • Truly Hannah Tate - Hannah gave an honest review of the wildly popular Billie razor. I loved her perspective and I hope she does more reviews like this.
  • A Byers Guide - With COVID-19 going on, Courtney ended up putting together a couple DIY maternity photoshoots at home. The end results of this one were beautiful!

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese
