10 of My Unpopular Opinions.

My blogger friends Nicole from What Nicole Wore and Cara from Caralina Style both shared blog post versions of the 10 Unpopular Things tag that started on Facebook a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed reading both their posts to see which of their list items I agreed and disagreed with. I thought thought it would be fun to make this a post on my blog too- I can't wait to see which of my list y'all agree and disagree with!

   10 of My Unpopular Opinions:

     1. Louis Vuitton: Very un-fashion blogger of me to say this, but I dislike anything Louis Vuitton and find everything, from the purses to luggage to accessories, to be extremely tacky and ugly. Especially anything in their classic brown monogrammed print! I don't know why I've always disliked these designer items, but I have. When I was in middle school, I had a friend who had a fake Louis Vuitton bag and even then I thought it was ugly. I'm probably one of the only bloggers out there who has zero desire to carry the popular Neverfull bag!

     2. Overalls: WHY did this ever become a fashion trend again?! Overalls are appropriate for ages five and under... and that's it! My mom had a pair she wore often when I was growing up and I never liked them on her. 😆And then in the past few years they've become back in style and even more popular! I don't get it. You'll never catch me in these.

     3. Voicemails: Something that I wonder often is why in the year 2020 is voicemail still a thing? I despise voicemails and always have. I currently have unheard ones on my phone that are over a year old that I never even finished listening to... no joke! We live in an age of texting and emailing... if you can't reach me via FaceTime or a phone call, please use one of those written methods to leave me a message.

     4. Smart speakers: I don't get the point of an Alexa or Google Home, and honestly I think they sound kind of creepy. I don't want a device in my home that listens to everything I say and could be recording me! No thanks. My phone can do everything that I'd ever want to use a smart speaker for anyways.

     5. Eggs: This might be one of the most controversial things on my whole list. I HATE EGGS! And I always have. Yes, I said it. 😂I think they're disgusting and I've never eaten them in a breakfast context. I pick them out of my Pad Thai or fried rice dishes! I do buy eggs at the grocery store because I like to bake and most baked goods need eggs, but you'll never catch me eating them in any other context.

     6. Football: I'm guessing this is probably tied with eggs for my most controversial opinion. I don't like football, I don't understand football, nor do I really have a desire to understand football. I blame a lot of this on my upbringing. College sports aren't a thing really in small town New England, and my parents weren't NFL fans either. I don't have any brothers or male cousins, and my high school guy friends weren't into it either. When I moved to the South for college and so how big of a deal both college football and NFL was, I was kind of shocked! It actually wasn't until this past fall that I went to my first college game. Granted, I'm not really a sports fan in general... but football boggles my mind the most out of all of them. I think basketball and hockey can at least be semi-enjoyable to watch live!

     7. (Hot) coffee: I am a tea drinker all the way for my caffeine needs, coffee has never been my thing. But with that said, I do enjoyed iced coffee a few times each summer. While iced coffee I can do in moderation, I despise hot coffee! It's so gross!! I don't understand how most people prefer this to hot tea?! Not for me.

     8. Harry Potter: Okay, maybe this is actually my most controversial one on the list. I don't like Harry Potter and have no desire to get into it as an adult! I loved to read as a kid, but I couldn't get past the first chapter of the first book when I tried reading it in elementary school. When I was in high school, in one of my English classes we had to watch the first movie to write an essay to compare it to a book we were reading. My classmates were shocked I had never read the books or seen the movies- most of them had seen the midnight premieres of each release. I have nothing against people who do like Harry Potter- it's just not for me. I've never really been into things with magic / the supernatural.

     9. (Cold) sandwiches: I love a good hot and toasted sandwich. Paninis, grilled cheeses, Philly cheesesteaks... yes please! But I absolutely will not eat cold sandwiches of any type. I was a creature of habit by choice in high school, and I ate a ham and cheese sandwich from my lunchbox almost every day for four years in high school. Now every time I eat a cold sandwich (ham and cheese or not), it immediately brings me to back to the high school cafeteria and I can't eat it! Even though Subway does offer some hot sandwich options, I also really dislike Subway subs of any type- it's my least favorite fast food option.

     10. Tik Tok: This one is bad for me to admit because 1) I have a day job in media and 2) I also blog, but I just can't get into Tik Tok! In my defense, I've never been huge on Youtube and I didn't get into Vine either. I definitely prefer written content like reading blogs. Most of my friends are currently obsessed with Tik Tok. I've seen a few videos here and there that are funny, but for the most part I think the content on there is insanely stupid. It also seems like such a big waste of time! And there's a ton of sketchy security issues with the app (Google it if you aren't familiar!). I thought about making an account during quarantine since it would be something to do, but I'm glad I didn't.

Okay friends- what out of my unpopular opinions do we agree and disagree on? Let me know in the comments! And a quick note about my outfit- these pictures were taken by my friend Emily last month for a fun Instagram campaign with Vera Bradley. You can see more about that here!

     God Bless,

  2. I think this is such a fun game that's been going around! I'm one of those hot coffee lovers- I drink like 3 cups a day! ha. But i have to agree that I am not into Tik Tok and think people look a little silly on it!

  3. Oh my goodness we agree on so many things! I read the first Harry Potter book when it was first released and I couldn't get into it. Not a fan of the books or movies.

Also, I cannot stand the Smart Speaker trend. I swear they listen in to your conversations. It's a little too big brother for me!

  4. Thank you for posting this. I agree with you about many of these, especially Harry Potter. I always feel like I’m the only one that doesn’t like Harry Potter. I don’t get all the hype! I do like eggs but my husband does not.

  5. This is such a fun post idea! I agree with you on so many of these. I just cannot get into overalls too. I’ve tried the overall dress trend and still didn’t love it/feel like it was my style. I also cannot stand voicemails, especially if they’re long. Soo annoying. I also don’t love football, I just go to games for the tailgating hahah. I’ve never been a big Harry Potter fan either. I just couldn’t get into it. I cannot get into Tik Tok either.

  7. Ooh what a fun post. I like Louis Vuitton but agree that the monogram print is by far the worst of the prints! Omg smart speakers creep me out so much...like we all know they are listening to EVERYTHING and recording so why is everyone so cool with having them in their homes???

I have to disagree on cold sandwiches and Harry Potter though. They're both pretty great in my opinion.

Such a fun blog post, now I want to share my own!
