Ramblings:
- Virtual fun: For the past two Saturdays, I've enjoyed something virtual and fun which has been nice to look forward to. Two Saturdays ago, a group of friends and I had a virtual FaceTime game night with the app Psych, and this past Saturday I participated in Kimmy Houghton's virtual Easter baking competition. Both things were so much fun and it helped me a lot mentally to know I had "something on my calendar" for Saturday night. Currently on the hunt for more virtual plans for this Saturday- any ideas for me?
- The endless honeymoon: This is by far the most interesting article related to Coronavirus that I've read this week. This South African couple took a big risk and still left for their international honeymoon in mid-March... and they ended up getting stranded and unable to find a flight home! This whole story is insane.
Weekend recaps:
- Last weekend: Similar to the past few weekends of social distancing! Friday and Saturday I did at-home workouts, some cleaning, and then Saturday night I participated in an online Instagram Easter baking challenge! Sunday I live-streamed a church service, went grocery shopping for the week, and then spent most of the afternoon sitting outside and enjoying the warm weather.
- This weekend: I'm anticipating a similar Saturday to last weekend, and then Sunday is Easter! After live-streaming church, my roommate and I are planning to cook lunch together. We had originally wanted to host a group of our friends for an Easter brunch in our apartment- maybe next year for that! I am still planning to get dressed up though even though I'll just be at home.
Purchases:
- Well, I caved and bought something from last week's Midweek Ramblings Wishlist! This darling gingham dress is on its way to me and I'm so excited.
- Rose Gold Rebel is a Charlotte, NC boutique that I've enjoyed following on social media for a couple years. They had a good online flash sale this week, so I purchased something for myself and a few gift items for friends.
Wishlist:
- I've been on the hunt for a pair of aqua leggings- these come in many colors but I love the pretty aqua version! And they're under $20.
- I have a Barefoot Dreams cardigan that I love, and I've heard only amazing things about their blankets. This one is at a great sale price!
- A cute and simple summer romper in a few color options.
- The cutest and cheeriest one piece bathing suit that has me dreaming of pool season.
- These fun block heeled sandals come in a cute print and are under $30 (you can also use my code alk315 for 15% off these or anything from the website).
Currently reading: The Beach Quilt by Holly Chamberlin - In these stressful times I've been craving lighter reads, and I just finished this book yesterday. Most of Holly Chamberlin's books are set in Maine (in a fictionalized version of the real town of York Maine, which isn't far from my hometown), so I always enjoy reading about the familiar Maine landmarks that are mentioned. This book had a big plot twist that I was not expecting, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
Recipe of the week: Almond Buttercream Frosting from Real Life at Home - This is the frosting recipe I used for the bunny cake I made in the baking challenge over the weekend. The cake recipe I used was just okay (it came out kind of dry), but I loved this frosting!! I think almond flavoring tastes amazing in buttercream.
Song of the week: Not So Bad by Yves V. ft Emie - This song features the early 2000s song Thank You by Dido- and remixes it in an awesome way.
Favorite blog posts of the week:
- Amy Believes in Pink - If you're looking for a new hobby during this time and you don't currently have a blog of your own, now could be a great time to start one, just for fun! Amy shares some easy and helpful tips for starting a blog in this new post.
- Lonestar Southern - I love how open Kate is about her faith on her blog! This week she's inviting her readers to join her for a Holy Week bible study on the Psalms, and she's even doing IG lives to discuss everything this week.
- Prep in Your Step - Dorothy shared a dating themed Q&A blog post that I loved reading. As much as I enjoy writing Relationship Monday posts, I also enjoy reading similar posts from other bloggers.

Your Easter cake turned out sooo cute! We're doing the same thing this weekend. I am planning to dress up and cook an Easter brunch/lunch. I need that Lilly swimsuit, it's so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYour cake is so cute! I've been wanting a Barefoot Dreams blanket, too. I live for soft blankets.
