Ramblings:
  • Gilmore Girls: I am almost done the second season of Gilmore Girls! Can you believe I'd never seen it before? I actually started watching it way back in the fall, but I really didn't love the first season and it took me awhile to get through it. Well- my thoughts on it have totally changed in the second season! It's such a cute show and has been really fun to enjoy during this stressful time. Also- Hart of Dixie is one of my all-time favorite shows and I totally see now how much inspiration it pulled from Gilmore Girls!
  • Charlottesville restaurants: This is something super niche for fellow Charlottesville people- but it's a great resource. One local news station has been keeping a detailed and updated list of all the local restaurants still open and offering takeout! Literally everything is on here from fast food and chains to upscale local spots. I've been ordering takeout only once a week as of now (maybe more going forward), but this list has been great for finding what's still open.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: Saturday I started the day with a Jazzercise workout, then I went to a local park to enjoy the (socially distanced) sunshine in the afternoon. Sunday was Easter! I livestreamed a church service, and then my roommate and I both dressed up and cooked brunch to enjoy outside. Definitely an odd and unusual Easter, but I'm still thankful to celebrate in the way we did.
  • This weekend: Hmmm, I foresee more Jazzercise at home workouts, more Netflix, more organization projects in my apartment.... what else is new? Haha!

Purchases: Oh man, I thought I was done with quarantine shopping last week... nope! The good news though: everything I purchased this week was on major sale! I didn't pay more than $40 for any of these items, and several were under $20.
  • First purchase of the week was these denim shorts on sale for under $25. I have a pair from a few years ago from this brand that I always liked a lot.
  • One of my favorite places to get dresses from for work/everyday that will last well is actually Lands' End! I have some that are a few years old and still looking great. They're having a good online sale right now so I bought this new summer work dress!
  • I've had various pairs of these shorts over the years and love them. They were on sale at the start of the week for under $15 so I picked up another pair in the mint color!
  • I got another color of my favorite cardigan- this time I got it in pink.
  • Angela from The Thrifty Pineapple raved about these white jeans- since they were on sale for $19.99 this week I had to try them!
  • A cute pair of brown heeled sandals that will be great for everyday wear this summer.
  • And a fun pair of patterned wedges which I also hope to wear a lot this summer.
Wishlist:
  • Obsessed with these gorgeous patterned shorts- I would've bought them if I didn't already have a few pairs of patterned shorts.
  • This is one fierce maxi dress! If I had a warm weather vacation coming up I would get this.
  • I love metallic heeled sandals- I have a pair and so glad they're still trending this year. This cute pair is on sale through tomorrow.
  • A cute lace camisole that comes in a ton of colors.
  • This pair of Kendra Scott statement earrings is over 60% off.

Currently reading: Heartland by Sarah Smarsh - I enjoy reading non-fiction and memoirs about sociological issues form time to time (I was a sociology minor in college!). Heartland is Sarah's memoir about growing up in poverty in the 1980s in Kansas, as well as her family's turbulent history. It's an interesting read... not enjoying the writing style as much as I hoped, but the content is fascinating.

Recipe of the week: Pappasito's Dupe Queso from CopyKat - This is so easy to make and SO GOOD!!! I made mine in my fondue pot last week. Pappasito's is an incredible Tex-Mex restaurant that's only in Texas, and I've been dreaming about their queso ever since I visited in 2018. This is the closest thing I've had to it!

Song of the week: Toosie Slide by Drake - Love to see Drake having his latest single debut at #1 on the Hot 100! Well deserved this week. This song reminds me a lot of older Drake and listening to it makes me feel back in college.

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Alyson Haley - Haley is the nude lip queen, and I loved reading about her five favorite nude lipsticks and glosses.
  • Coffee, Prose and Pretty Clothes - Deborah has a unique new approach to figuring out what items she's wearing the most in her closet- so fun and informative to read about this.
  • Girl Meets Bow - My friend Gentry is currently engaged to a wonderful guy, but she was single for four years before meeting him! She shared some heartfelt encouragement for single gals- and since I am one I really loved this post.

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese
