Ramblings:
  • First vaccine dose: I finally have an appointment for my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine! I am scheduled it get it this weekend. For most of March Virginia was running pretty far behind a lot of nearby states it seemed. but in the past week and a half things have really started moving here. I am nervous for the side effects... but I know even if they are bad it will be worth it.
  • Mall turned school: Since I used to live in Vermont, I always keep my eyes peeled for interesting news stories to come out of the Green Mountain State- haha! But this might be the most interested Vermont story ever. The former Macy's building in downtown Burlington has been turned into... a school?! This article has all the details and pictures- so interesting!
  • Virtual church fashion: This is the best feel good story that I read this week. There is an elderly woman who has been still dressing to the nines in her Sunday best for the past year, despite attending virtual church from home! Her outfits are so stylish!! Makes me wish I haven't spent so many recent Sundays attending church in my pajamas and bathrobes.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: Another low-key weekend... hopefully very soon weekends will start looking busier again! 😊 I went to Jazzercise on Saturday morning, then met my friend Leslie for and outdoor lunch. This year for Easter Sunday I went to an outdoor service at my roommate's church, and then she and I made a tasty brunch meal back at home with two of our friends (one fully vaccinated, the other halfway and someone who has been in our bubble the whole time!).
  • This weekend: I am scheduled to get my first dose of the vaccine!!! Finally!!!! I am a bit nervous for how I will react / how much arm pain I'll be in, but I know that whatever happens will be 100% worth it, no questions asked. Hopefully Sunday if I'm feeling up for it post-vaccine I will be going to Richmond for the day to see my friend Caroline

Purchases:
  • Lots of random buys this week! First up, a new keychain since I have a new car again! I never got a new keychain when I got my last car back in May, but since I had to get another car unexpectedly post-accident I thought a shiny new version of my favorite keychain for it might be fun.
  • I worked on organizing the bathroom cabinet under my sink this weekend. The first thing I picked up for that was this affordable storage bin
  • The best item I got for my bathroom cabinet organization is this Lazy Susan! It love it so much and it's already made my hair products so much more organized.
  • I've had this classic skirt in various colors over the years, and I finally got it in black.
  • A new denim skirt! The one I've had for the past few years is pretty well worn now, so I repurchased the same one in this year's version.

Wishlist:

Currently reading: Fruit of the Drunken Tree by Ingrid Rojas Contreras - This novel is about two girls growing up during the escalating violent conflicts in Columbia in the 1990s. One is a little girl from a wealthier family, and the other is a teenage maid from the slums who works for the little girl's family. The book alternates between chapters told from each of their perspectives. I think the story is super interesting, but I'm still figuring out how I feel about the writing style.

Recipe of the week: Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes from Delish - Pictured above! I made these with homemade whipped cream for Easter this past weekend and they were so good! Literally the perfect light and fluffy spring pancake recipe to enjoy.

Song of the week: Beautiful Mistakes by Maroon 5 ft. Megan Thee Stallion - For the past five or so years, I've been very hit or miss on Maroon 5's new singles. There's some I really love, like Cold, and some that I can't stand, like Girls Like You. Anyone else feel hit or miss with them in recent years? Anyways- their latest single with Megan Thee Stallion is one I actually do really like! Reminds me of older Maroon 5.

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Dresses & Democracy - Talia's blog has become one of my favorites to read lately. I loved this post where she recaps her most used daily and weekly items- a lot of these are some of my favorite items too!
  • Sarah's Love List - Sarah is continuing on with her fun wedding recap posts, and I loved this one about her bridesmaids. I think her bridesmaids' dresses were some of the prettiest I've seen for any blogger wedding ever!
  • Caitlin Houston - Caitlin was one of the first people I can remember following who shared publicly about being positive for COVID-19 last spring. I really enjoyed this recent post from her where she recapped the year in her healing journey since having COVID.
