  • Expensive week: Last week was the most expensive week of my adult life so far. My old laptop stopped turning on about a week and a half ago, so I brought it into Apple on Thursday. Unfortunately I received the news that it would be quite a lot of money to begin the repair process, and the technician working with me didn't recommend going that route as the computer is already quite old, and probably wouldn't last much longer. So I ended up buying a new MacBook. 24 hours later, I found out at the dentist office that I need a root canal soon, and my dental insurance won't be covering it. Woof! What a week for my bank account. I'm still bummed about all of this, but trying to be thankful that this all happened this year, and not last year (when I had to get a new lease after my car was totaled, and was saving for moving for a new job).
  • Dental insurance breakdown: A continuation of my previous rambling- I was absolutely mind blown last week to learn how dental insurance actually works. There was a number attached to my policy that I thought was my deductible. Turns out... it's actually my plan max for the year. 😳 And I'd already hit that in January (!!) when I had cavities done. Yikes. It is mind blowing to me that I'm in my late 20s and have been in the workforce for several years... and I didn't know how dental insurance is so different from health insurance. This is a helpful article that explains what I'm talking about. How this stuff isn't taught in high school or college I truly don't know!

Weekend recaps:

  • Last weekend: On Saturday morning, I went out for coffee with a friend from Charlottesville who was down in Virginia Beach to visit her family. That evening, I went to dinner at a new-to-me restaurant with some ladies from the Junior League. On Sunday, my friend Amanda and I left for our whirlwind 24 hour trip to The Greenbrier! I had Monday off from work for the trip- that's the first day off I've taken since Christmas, and it was so nice to have a three day weekend. I can't wait to share more about The Greenbrier soon!
  • This weekend: This is my first weekend since mid-February without any travel, hosting company, or other big plans to attend. I'm really looking forward to that after a busy past several weekends! I do have dinner plans Saturday night with a few friends that I haven't seen in awhile, so I am looking forward to that.
  • Well- my new laptop for starters! 😜 Wasn't counting on that type of big purchase at this time last week, lol.
  • I also finally purchased a tablet! I shared a few weeks ago that I'd decided I finally wanted one, and I was torn between an iPad or Kindle. Due to spending a ton of money on the new computer, I ended up ordering a Kindle. The 2020 model (The Fire 8) was on super sale last week, so that's the one I went with. I think for moderate tablet use it will be totally fine for my needs! It is supposed to arrive today.

  • My favorite bag company, Barrington Gifts, is having a spring sale that ends today! As always they have so many cute new spring prints for all of their bags.
  • A great spring work blouse- love the color.
  • A cute and very classy take on flat sandals for summer.
  • This spring top is a different style look for Lilly but I LOVE it!! This is totally something I'd look for in the next sale.
  • A fun everyday jumpsuit for warm weather.

Currently reading: The Girls in the Stilt House by Kelly Mustian - I've heard a lot of hype about this book and finally got it from the library! I've heard it's a similar vibe to Where the Crawdads Sing. I just started it, but I'm excited to read more. It's about two girls whose lives intertwine in Mississippi in the 1920s.

Currently watching: Bridgerton Season 2 on Netflix! In true Annaliese fashion, I haven't binged it in full yet and am slowly working my way through the hour long episodes- ha!

Recipe of the week: Maple Soy Glazed Salmon from Cooking Classy - I love fish but don't make it very often at home. I decided to buy some salmon at the store yesterday- I'll be making this recipe for dinner tonight.

Song of the week: Don't Forget My Love by Diplo ft. Miguel - Another fun new dance track! All of these new dance pop songs coming out are getting me excited for summer.

Favorite blog posts of the week:

  • The Stripe - I always love reading day in the life blog posts and seeing how others structure their weekdays and what their work routine looks like. Loved reading this updated one from Grace!

On the blog this week:

       God Bless,

       xoxo Annaliese
