Ramblings:
- A good Hallmark movie: I kind of forgot how much I really do enjoy the fall themed Hallmark movies- in my opinion they're generally less corny than the Christmas ones! I watched on this weekend that was so cute. It's a new one from this year called Country At Heart, and it involves a small town music festival (I guess the small town part is stereotypical Hallmark haha) and a young woman who is trying to get her music career started. She ends up having the chance to write a song for a popular country star. I really liked the original songs in the movie, and there is a bit of a love triangle element as well. If you like Hallmark holiday movies, I think you'll like this one!
- Voting 2020: I have been toying with voting early versus voting on Election Day for several weeks, and I finally decided I'm going to vote early! This year Virginia has opened early voting to anyone without needing a special reason (due to COVID). I'm going to try to vote at the end of this week or early next week! This will be my third presidential election, and I've actually never voted on Election Day for the two prior! In 2012 I did an absentee ballot in college, and in 2016 when I still was in NC, they had early voting for everyone that year so I went in October a few weeks before. How are you going to be voting this year?
Weekend recaps:
- Last weekend: I was supposed to meet a friend in Richmond for an outdoor brunch, but sadly rain cancelled that. 😓 I'm not quite ready for public indoor dining yet, so I didn't end up going down there. I ran several local errands on Saturday instead! On Sunday it was still raining, so I had a cozy day home of fall crafting, an organizing project, and watching a Hallmark movie and Netflix.
- This weekend: My roommate's birthday is Saturday, and a few of us have dinner reservations outdoors on Saturday to celebrate her- I'm thankful the weather looks good for that as of now. I don't have other plans yet but I'm sure something will come up.
Purchases:
- I've been wanting to try the curling iron clamp version of my favorite wand for awhile, and when it was featured as a daily deal on Monday during Ulta's Hair Event I didn't waste any time in ordering it!
- Who else is obsessed with following The Home Edit? I've loved Clea and Joanna for awhile but have definitely been enjoying their Instagram updates even more lately since the TV show came out. Clea posted about the cutest metallic striped sneakers ever a few days ago- I ordered them shortly after!
Wishlist:
- Lately I can't stop thinking about cropped denim! I don't currently have any pairs, and would love to get one soon, it would be so cute to style for fall.
- These booties are in such a beautiful and unique jewel toned color- but I kind of love them!
- CUTEST sweater dress EVER! I don't know if I like the polka dot or leopard the best!
- Ruffled masks... something I didn't know I needed!
- This long sleeved workout top is adorable- I love the bright pink color and the tie-front detail. Perfect for fall workouts.
Sale of the week: Shopbop is having their Fall Event sale through Friday. You can save 15% off any purchases $200+, and get higher discounts the more you spend. Shopbop sales aren't the same as sales from my other favorite retailers, but I like them because they give you a chance to save on splurge-items that often rarely are discounted at all. So if there's a designer bag on your wishlist or some new high-end denim, this could be a great time to get it! I have a Shopbop gift card and am hoping to take advantage of the sale this week.
Amazon Prime Fashion Picks: Another notable sale? A little thing called Amazon Prime Day, which continues on today! Here are a few of my fashion picks under $25:
Currently reading: Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis - Despite how popular she's become in recent years, I'd never read one of Rachel's books. My mom got me this one last year, so I wanted to give it a try. Full disclaimer: going into reading this I wasn't the biggest fan of Rachel initially, just from some interviews I've read with her and seeing her social media. But I figured I'd give her and her book a fair chance!
Recipe of the week: Morning Maple Muffins by Taste of Home - These are pictured at the top of this post! They are delicious. I make muffins pretty frequently and find some recipes that are hits and some that are misses. I haven't always had luck with Taste of Home recipes- but this one is a WINNER! Easy and absolutely delicious. The topping makes them.
Song of the week: Levitating by Dua Lipa ft. Da Baby - This song took a few listens to grow on me, but now I'm loving it! Dua Lipa has been giving us hit after hit.
Favorite blog posts of the week:
- Lindsey Regan Thorne - Lindsey shared a preview of some of the holiday makeup gift sets coming to Nordstrom this season! I've already added this lip kit and this eyeshadow stick set to my wishlist.
- Becoming Bailey - Bailey and her family recently moved from Iowa to Germany- her husband is in the military. They were stationed in Iowa for three years, and I loved reading her midwest bucket list of things they did!
- Caralina Style - Cara put together the perfect easy Halloween costume, inspired by the Netflix show everyone is talking about this week.
On the blog this week:
God Bless,
xoxo Annaliese

Those muffins look delicious! I early voted the first day it was an option in Tennessee, and I'm so glad I did. I only waited about 40 minutes and a food truck was there giving out free lunch.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great weekend celebrating your friend's birthday :)

That’s so great Virginia is doing early voting, I wish Alabama did that. Omg yes, I am loving The Home Edit. I organized Scarlett’s books in a rainbow because of it.
