Ramblings:
  • I voted: I forgot to share this on the blog and IG last week, but just over a week ago I participated in early voting for the election! I went to my local early polling place in the middle of the afternoon and had no wait time at all, it was so easy. Virginia residents have until October 31st to vote early- please do so if you can! I won't be sharing anything else political related leading up to the election, but if you are not a fan of either major candidate and considering skipping voting... let me just beg of you to please reconsider and still vote! It is such an incredible right that we have as Americans to vote, and I think easy to take for granted sometimes, especially in times as turbulent as these. There are also other issues besides president on the ballot this year- in my district in Virginia we also had a senate and house race, and some local issues.
  • Cleaning a burnt pot: File this under boring adult things, but for about a month now I've had a pot that I just couldn't get clean. There was sticky stuff like baked onto it, and no matter how hard I scrubbed it in the sink, it wouldn't budge. I found this helpful article that compared five different methods for cleaning pots and pans with stuff really stuck on them. Their dishwater tablet method worked GREAT and that pot is finally clean and shiny again.
  • COVID lessons: Laura Lyons is a comedian in her early 30s, who came down with an extremely severe case of COVID back in the winter, and she ended up being placed on a ventilator and in a coma for 99 days. She shared a hilarious yet poignant reflection piece on her time being dangerously sick, and a bit about what recovery has been like. You'll find yourself laughing out loud at parts of this, and also deeply concerned in others.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: I went to Greensboro, NC to visit my friend Michelle and her new home! It was a very relaxing and lovely weekend. I was barely on my phone and a first for me- I didn't really take any pictures. I've been to Greensboro before but it's been a few years- Michelle was a great tour guide in showing me some of the sights I had and hadn't seen before in Greensboro and High Point.
  • This weekend: Since traditional Halloween party plans won't be a thing this year for COVID, I made some alternative and safe plans! My roommate and another friend of ours are planning to go visit a corn maze at some point on Saturday, and then doing a bonfire with some other friends that night.

Purchases:
  • I treated myself last weekend in J. Crew's early Black Friday sale! I'd been wanting another J. Crew coat for this winter, and with them being 50% off I decided to pull the trigger. I got this one in fuschia- sadly it's backordered so it won't arrive until the end of November, but I'm already so excited.
  • I went to Ulta this week with a birthday gift card that I had and stocked up mainly on some new drugstore products. I also treated myself to this holiday edition dry shampoo! Typically I buy mostly cheaper hair products, but I like to treat myself to nicer hair products sometimes.

Wishlist:
  • I think I'm officially going to add this popular hair tool to my Christmas list this year- I just keep hearing more and more good reviews!
  • I'm not currently in the market for new cookware, but I found this set of pots and pans on Amazon randomly last week and I'm obsessed with the color! I have it bookmarked for "someday."
  • I bet at this time last year you never guessed you'd want a set of tartan face masks for the holidays on your wishlist this year!
  • The cutest metallic booties- they're adorable but I'm restraining from getting them since I don't have many occasions this year worthy of fun shoes like this.
  • The perfect affordable mini dress to wear with OTK boots this season.

Sale of the week: Madewell is doing a Black Friday preview sale that ends tonight! Save between 25-50% on different things. I am a big fan of Madewell jeans- I think they're worth the hype.

Currently reading: My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell -  I'm only a little bit into this one,  but it's very captivating so far. It's about a woman who had an affair with her high school teacher back when she was in high school, and how things come to light again for her as an adult in the Me Too era. It's also set in Maine, which was a nice surprise for me to see.

Recipe of the week: Creamy White Chicken Chili from Life, Love and Sugar - It's officially soup season! This recipe is supposed to be for an Instant Pot, but I made it in my Crock Pot and it was still really good. Definitely buy the Fritos to top it with!

Song of the week: Intuition by Jewel - an underrated early 2000s song that I love but always forget about. I heard it randomly this week and it's on repeat now!

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • A Mix of Min - I enjoyed Mindy's tips for fall closet organization! I also like that her closet that's pictured isn't a huge walk-in (I have a very small closet in my current apartment, so organization posts geared for huge walk-ins don't work for my situation.)
  • Extra Petite - Jean shared some really cute and casual fall fashion inspiration in this post, and the outfits all match her adorable daughter!
  • The Homes I Have Made - This is a blog post that I'll be saving and referencing in future years 100%! Megan rounds up the best places to buy temporary wallpaper, aka renter safe wallpaper. I love wallpaper and really hope I can do at least one accent wall with it wherever I live next!

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,
