Midweek Ramblings.

{A beautiful summer day in Richmond a couple weekends ago! Follow me on social media @miss_alk}

Ramblings:
  • Global Entry: I will be traveling abroad later this year, and I'm considering applying for Global Entry. This includes TSA pre-check, as well as an expedited customs process when arriving back in the US from traveling abroad. I asked y'all's opinion about getting this on Instagram Stories and Twitter earlier this week, and it was an overwhelming response that applying for this is a great decision! I'm planning to apply for it in the next couple months, probably after I update my drivers' license to my new address.
  • Throwback dance music: File this rambling under random but really great Buzzfeed article findsI found this music round-up on there this week titled The 101 Greatest Dance Songs of the 90s! So many good hidden gem 90s songs in here (and a lot of one hit wonders too!). If you need a pick-me-up playlist this week, look up some of these songs.
  • NSale: We're just days away from the start of Early Access for this year's NSale! Are you shopping this year? I will be doing a couple blog posts about it like I always do (including one going up Friday afternoon after the sale opens!), but I don't plan to over promote it! While I do enjoy the NSale, I think some bloggers definitely go a little *crazy* over it- I don't need to see endless try-on's of purchases on Instagram or too many guides telling me how to shop it! I also probably won't be buying too much this year since I have a lot of moving expenses to still save up for next month.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: Almost a long weekend with the 4th of July being on a Thursday! I did have to work Friday, but it was still nice to have the extra weekday off. My friend Mercedes came down last Wednesday evening and stayed through Saturday afternoon. We were able to visit two wineries that I hadn't been to before, as well as Bold Rock Cidery, which is a popular spot with Charlottesville people! It was a wonderful weekend, and I had a restful Sunday to wrap it all up.
  • This weekend: My last weekend in Charlottesville for a bit, as my summer vacation is coming up. I'm going to a really fun themed local event with my friends on Friday night that I can't wait for! On Saturday I'm hoping to start packing some boxes around the apartment- I know moving at the end of August will get here quickly!

Purchases: This is the last week of my two month shopping fast! I did make one purchase last week for my upcoming vacation:
  • I got this cute packing cube set.after my friend Gentry from Girl Meets Bow shared about it. It's a really good deal, and I hope it'll help me be able to pack for a 10 day trip successfully with just a carry-on suitcase!

Wishlist:
  • These gorgeous sandals would be my dream splurge in the upcoming Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year! They are so beautiful and classic. Crossing my fingers a similar pair will be in the 2020 sale!
  • Another NSale wishlist item of mine this year- I love the color is this darling crossbody bag.
  • I used to have a different peplum top in the same cut/fabric type as this one- I love this updated print!
  • These leopard print sandals are darling for summer.
  • I can't get enough of this mid-length shirtdress! Both prints are so cute, and this would be great for summer days at work.

Currently reading: Wedding Belles by Haywood Smith.  Thought it would be fun to add a Currently Reading section to Midweek Ramblings! I'm working towards my goal of reading 52 books in 2019.

Recipe of the week: Grilled chicken with pineapple mango salsa from Cooking Light Annual Recipes 2009.  An easy and tasty summer chicken recipe, I paired it with a coconut rice. I just need to get better at cutting mango- haha!

Song of the week: Find U Again by Mark Ronson ft. Camila Cabello. I loved this the first time I heard it on the radio, and only love it more now!

Favorite blog posts this week:
  • Brighton the Day - Brighton travels internationally a lot for her blog- so I totally trust her tips on surviving long flights!
  • Chronicles of Frivolity - All the heart eyes for how organized Katey's new pantry is!
  • Medicine & Manicures - Kristina works by day in the medical field, and she shared a very educational post on when to go to urgent care vs. the ER.

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

  7. Global entry sounds worth it! I have TSA pre and LOVE IT. Ahh I am excited about the Nordstrom sale too, but am the same way. I plan to only share 1-2 blog posts and not over share it. I am only sharing basics this year.
