Ramblings:
- Four Seasons: You know that I don't like to get very political on the blog, but I think this story is just too funny no matter your political affiliation or who you voted for in this election. Comedy is comedy, right? Have you heard about the whole Four Seasons press conference debacle for the Trump campaign in Pennsylvania over this weekend? This Buzzfeed article sums the whole thing up and also shares the best tweets about it, and I swear I was crying laughing reading this.
- French vs. American culture: I think I shared something similar to this a few weeks ago in Midweek Ramblings, but I liked this piece a lot as well. It's another great perspective from someone living in France about what the Netflix show Emily in Paris did and didn't get right about French culture. Side note: the show coincidently got renewed for another season today!
Weekend recaps:
- Last weekend: A busy but fun one! On Friday after work I went to Richmond for some blog photos, and then hung out down there until the evening to go to Garden Glow at Maymont again with two girlfriends who met me there. On Saturday the weather was beautiful, and I was excited to spend most of the morning in a tennis match with the group of friends I've been playing with since summer, and then after tennis I met another friend outdoors at a winery. Sunday had beautiful weather as well- after a Zoom call for sorority volunteering I spent awhile outside reading in the sunshine!
- This weekend: On Saturday I have winery plans with a new friend that I met at a Richmond radio meet-up I attended back in September. I always enjoy checking out new-to-me wineries, and I've never been to the one we are going to so I'm very excited.
Purchases:
- A very big splurge purchase- but I had a gift card that covered most of the cost of this, and it was on sale when I got it! I can't wait to style it for an upcoming blog post.
- After seeing a few beauty bloggers highlight this eyeshadow stick set, I bought it as a Christmas gift to myself! I'm trying to wrap it and put it under the tree, but it is tempting to use them now.
Wishlist:
- I've seen these beautiful ornaments featured on a few gift guides. They are definitely a splurge but so timeless!
- Oh my gosh- this clutch is absolutely stunning. Another splurge for sure, but I feel like it would be used for years to come.
- I'm pretty much a sucker for anything neon pink! This sweater has my name on it and it's so affordable.
- I love a good shirtdress, and this one is currently on sale.
- I've been really into wearing matching pajama sets at home lately (whereas for the last several years I was all about old workout shorts and sorority shirts from college) - I've heard great things about these pajama sets and they come in some new color options now!
Currently reading: The Lion's Den by Katherine St. John - This book has been such a fun treat! It's definitely a bit soapy, but in the best way. It follows a glamorous cast of characters aboard a yacht, but there's also some mystery and a ton of drama, and the book alternates between the past and present for the two main characters. This is a great book to read to escape 2020 mentally for a bit.
Recipe of the week: Pork Schnitzel from Hello Fresh - Sadly my Hello Fresh review blog post was already drafted and ready to go live before I cooked this, so I couldn't include this recipe in my round-up of Hello Fresh favorites. But wow was this good!! And so easy and quick- I think this might be one of the fastest Hello Fresh recipes I've really enjoyed. The mustard sauce really made it.
Song of the week: Lonely by Justin Beiber ft. Benny Blanco - I don't think I've loved a Justin Bieber song this much in years. This song is absolutely beautiful- both the singing and the music, as well as the poignant lyrics. I almost teared up watching the music video.
Favorite blog posts of the week:
- The Small Things - Love this easy hair tutorial from Kate- the end result is very chic!
- Sunnies & Sangria - Batsheva has become Tik Tok famous - she's racked up over one million followers on there in less than a year! Although I don't have Tik Tok, I'm kind of fascinated by it, so I enjoyed this post where she shared some of her tips for going viral on there.
On the blog this week:
Those ginger jar ornaments are gorgeous I need them! Also I LOVE that cardigan you purchased. I cannot wait to see how you style it.
