Ramblings:
  • First Ramblings of 2020: Hello there! I took an unexpected two week Midweek Ramblings hiatus since both Christmas and New Year's were on Wednesdays. It's so good to be back with these posts! My weeks just didn't feel quite right without them. Going into 2020- I'd love to hear if there's a certain topic you'd like me to add to these posts!
  • Snow in Charlottesville: We had quite a little snowstorm yesterday in Cville! We were only expected at first to get about an inch, but we ended up getting two inches in the first hour. 😬And more after that! I made the mistake of trying to leave work early to beat the snow, but ended up driving home during the worst part of it, around noontime. It was a pretty scary drive home- I ended up having to park my car in another apartment complex near mine and walk the rest of the way! So thankful though that I did make it home safe. A little bit of snow can be dangerous when the roads aren't salted or plowed at all! I don't like winter to begin with but feeling unsafe when it snows here is never fun.
  • Unexpected story: This is the best thing I read on the internet this week! This story sounds like the memoir of a wife whose husband cheated on her... but make sure to read to the end because it takes a totally different turn! I was smiling and laughing by the end.
  • You on Netflix: Who else watched season 2 and is hooked?! I actually haven't finished it yet- currently up to episode 8! I'm watching it with my roommate and we have different schedules most days so we can't watch as fast as we like. Season 1 totally captivated me last year but I think season 2 might be better? I just hate how gory some of it has been. You is not the typical type of TV show that I would ever watch, yet here I am totally hooked on it. It has been fun too though to get to have roommate bonding time when Abigail and I watch it, and some of our other friends are as well!

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: A mellow but good start to the New Year! I shopped the After Party Sale in-store here in Charlottesville, and then spent most of Saturday in the library getting my blog prepped for more APS posts this week. Sunday after church I went to King Family Vineyards, one of my very favorite wineries, for my friend Sierra's birthday!
  • This weekend: Looking forward to breakfast with Leslie on Saturday! The weather all weekend is supposed to be really mild- totally different from the snow we had yesterday. If it doesn't end up raining, I'd love to go for a hike Saturday afternoon to enjoy that. Sunday will be a blast from the past to my college years- it's Bid Day at UVA for their sororities, and I'll be helping out at that with some of the other Alpha Delta Pi advisors!

Purchases: Only things from the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale! Sadly the sale ended yesterday, but here's what I got:

Wishlist:
  • Meghan from I'm Fixin to Blog shared how she styled this gorgeous top, and I couldn't believe the price. I need it!
  • An adorable sweater for February / Valentine's!
  • I had a houndstooth coat in high school and college that I loved. This one is so chic!
  • J. Crew has officially made the work-appropriate hot pink dress of my dreams! It comes in other beautiful colors as well.
  • This tank top sold out in the Nordstrom Sale last summer, but it's back and currently marked down again.

Currently Reading: Starting the year with two nonfiction books: Never Go Back by Dr. Henry Cloud, and Spoken from the Heart by Laura Bush.

Recipe of the week: Coconut Jerk Peas with Pineapple Salsa from Budget Bytes - Not only is this recipe vegetarian and affordable to make, it's also pretty healthy! And delicious!

Song of the week: My Oh My by Camilla Cabello ft. DaBaby - Such a catchy song! I've been liking the music from Camilla's second album much more than her first.

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Strawberry Chic - Amanda did a beautiful job styling what I think is the winter coat of my dreams!
  • Basic Britt - I love cooking but still struggle with organized meal planning some weeks. Brittany breaks down her easy methods in this post!
  • Kelsey Kaplan Fashion - Kelsey was adopted from Columbia as a baby, and shared her full adoption and family story on her blog. It's such a beautiful story!

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese
