I am back from my social media break and almost back from my vacation to Canada with my mom!! I was supposed to be back at home last night... but on our drive home it started downpouring while we were on Interstate 95 in Central Maine. The rain continued and only got worse, so we had to spend an extra night on the road in Augusta, Maine's capital city! I have so much to do at home in the next few days before I head back to Charlotte, so getting home later will only make that all more stressful, but I am so thankful that we had a safe place to spend the night!! Apparently this rain storm caused a lot of flooding in Southern Maine, something that we don't experience a lot.
Anyways, my social media break during our vacation was absolutely wonderful and so needed!! I plan to do a blog post next week all about it. But I am so happy to be back! :-) I missed blogging so much. To start things off, here is my favorite outfit that I wore during our Canada trip. The town that we stayed in was a tiny and quiet resort town called St. Andrews, but we took one day to visit the coastal city of Saint John, the largest city in the Province of New Brunswick! It reminded me a lot of Portland, Maine's biggest city, but definitely had some unique differences which made it cool. I took so many pictures during our trip of the New Brunswick scenery and nature (and even played around with the manual settings on my camera!), and I look forward to sharing those with y'all next week as well!
But for now, a couple notes on this outfit that I wore! I chose to accessorize this paisley top with notes of bold gold. (Perhaps I could have titled the blog post that? ;-) ) My top is from Talbots, a store that I don't generally shop at. But it is one of my mom's favorite stores, and she had a bunch of coupons back in July, so we went to our nearest Talbots one day before I went to work. I was pleased to discover that Talbots had many fashion and accessories in stock that were items that definitely fit my style and didn't seem to mature for my taste! I got this top, and a beautiful dress and scarf for fall (and my mom came home that day with a lot of great finds for her closet as well!). Talbots will probably still never be my favorite store, but it is definitely somewhere that is worth a look for classy, business casual type attire! I I found that when they have sales the deals can be excellent!
My sunglasses were my big souvenir item on the trip! Although this was my first trip to New Brunswick, I have been to the Canadian province of Quebec several times (most recently during my senior year of high school) and am familiar enough with shopping in Canada to have a favorite store: Le Chateau. Le Chateau is similar to American mall stores Bebe or Express but I think it is so much better!! In addition to on-trend clothes and jewelry, they also sell gorgeous cocktail dresses. I wore a Le Chateau dress for my high school's homecoming dance during my senior year!!
Throwback high school homecoming picture of me, my senior year date, and my Le Chateau dress! (Ignore my disaster of an updo though... don't know what went wrong at the hairdresser....) |
And on my trip to Las Vegas last summer I wore a dressy Le Chateau top that I had to a Cirque du Soleil performance one night!
So basically- if you ever find yourself in a part of Canada that has a Le Chateau store, stop by!!! I am obsessed with these new sunnies that I got this past weekend and I know y'all will be seeing them in many future blog posts. ;-)
