July Beauty Favorites.

I don't know about y'all, but the month of July absolutely flew by for me! It was a blur of work, work, more work, a few beach days, and more work. Haha! Since I spent most of the month pretty much living at my summer job, I didn't really get to try or buy as many new beauty products as I do during the school year. My make-up routine stays the same every day at work (occasionally I change my lipstick to match an outfit, but even that generally stays the same). This month I have barely even straightened or curled my hair for work... it's like I took this month as a hiatus from beauty effort! But even so, I still had the time to find and try a few favorite products!

Nyx Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sponge Cake (Ulta, Target, $4.99)

So this is pretty much my new favorite lip product!! I found it in an Ulta clearance bin a few weeks ago and thought it would make a pretty Fall lip color... but I just couldn't wait to start using it! I have been wearing it to work non-stop and will probably have to re-purchase it soon. The shade that I got, Sponge Cake, is slightly deeper then a "your lips but better" shade, and has just the right amount of sparkle and shine! It literally matches and coordinates with every type of make-up and outfit. The formula itself isn't too sticky or "goopy," and I liked it so much that I went back to Ulta to buy another gloss from this line (which says a lot because I'm more of a lipstick person!). However- when I went back to Ulta this is what I found in the main Nyx display:

I just snapped the above picture quickly with my iPhone, but isn't that weird?! A lot of the glosses on display have turned yellow and were discolored! :-( I can definitely say that my mega shine gloss in Sponge Cake has not changed colors and still looks totally true to its shade, but the discoloration of the rest of these at Ulta prevented me from trying any others from the line. Have any of you tried Nyx glosses before and seen this happen?

Victoria's Secret PINK Shimmer Sweet + Flirty Body Mist (Victoria's Secret, $18)

Well if we want to talk about old and outdated products like those yucky lip glosses on display in the picture above this... then let's talk about this body mist! I suppose that was a bad way to start this. ;-) I think this body mist smells wonderful, hence why it's a favorite for this month! I just mean old in that the version that I own of it is so old now that the packaging has completely changed. The picture above is the packaging of it that I have, and the picture below is what Victoria's Secret is now selling it as. (I got this as a Christmas gift a few years ago from a high school friend!)

Anyways, I think this is a really fun scent for summer. It is fairly light and definitely fits the definition of being "sweet and flirty." It has been my go-to scent lately for wearing to work. I just feel like now I need to get the updated bottle before mine becomes a collectors edition, lol!

Essie Nail Polish in Hide and Go Chic (Drugstores, Ulta, $8.50)

Some of you might know that I'm not really a fan of traditional nail polish colors like pinks, oranges and reds, and I don't often paint my nails and toes in these colors! I prefer lilacs, greens and blues! When Essie released a gorgeous deep blue called Hide and Go Chic in their Spring 2014 collection I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! This month I rediscovered my love for it after wearing it on my toes. :-) This color is such a rich and brilliant blue, and it really is quite a unique shade. I personally like to think of it as an azure blue, which is one of the colors of my sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, which makes me love it even more!

What beauty products were you loving in the month of July? My birthday is coming up in early September and I'm hoping to splurge on a couple high-end beauty products then! Last year after my birthday I bought a bunch of drugstore make-up and my favorite Benefit eyeshadow set at Sephora, so I'm already getting excited for this year!

  4. That's so weird about the glosses! I wonder what would have made them all go bad at the same time like that...I've never seen a lip gloss in general do that :D Great favorites!

  6. That Essie color is really fun! Also, what is it with work eating up the summer? I'm not a fan of it.
