August Goals.

My original intent was to have this blog post up on Saturday... but that didn't happen. ;-) After yet another long week of work, I had a very busy but extremely fun weekend, which was much needed! I worked from 9-5 on Saturday, and right after I got out of work I headed to a BBQ at my friend Tim's house. He had a bunch of my old friends from high school over, many who I have only seen once this summer (or some not yet at all!), so it was great to catch up with everyone before I head back to Charlotte in just two (!!!!) weeks. The highlight of the night was playing the Charades! Free app on my iPhone with everyone- it's a super funny party game and the app is free! I didn't get home until about midnight and actually felt my age for once (since I pretty much don't have a life when I am home and when I get home from work I usually just curl up in bed and either blog or watch Netflix! #truth).

And yesterday was my last full day off before I start a week of overtime work. I spent it sleeping in, visiting my grandma and then spending the evening at a beach a few towns over with my best girlfriends. My sweet friend Katie  was the photographer of the evening, so I will do a full blog post on it once she has edited the beach pictures!

Now let's take a look back at my goals from July! I'm warning y'all... I didn't do a very good job with goals this month... oops. I will say though that since January when I started doing Goals posts on the blog, overall I have done really well in sticking to my goals! So I guess I should be allowed one "cheat" month, right...?

     1. Do study abroad research for next summer. Check. I didn't do as much as I would have liked, but I did talk to two friends of mine (both a real life friend and a blogging friend) who have both lived in Paris before to ask about their experiences and to try and figure out if Paris is a destination in France that I would enjoy going for my language immersion program, versus a smaller town in France or a city in the South of France. So that counts for something, right? Next month at school I will have an advising appointment with the abroad office and that is when things will really get serious!
     2. Work on a craft project. This did not happen. :-( However, in the event that I get a Little in my sorority after fall rush next month then LOTS of crafting will be in my future.
     3. Get back on a regular blog posting schedule. While I didn't really abandon my blog or take any unscheduled breaks, I still don't feel that this past month I was posting as much as I do during the school year, or as much as I would like. Hopefully this will change once I'm back at school!

And now for my August goals!

     1. Successfully pack for school. I say "successfully" because when I packed up my dorm room to come home at the end of April I did a terrible job. Things were all mixed together and nothing was organized, and my car was so overstuffed that I had to leave a couple items in the lobby of my dorm (like my baking supplies and my desk lamp). This time around I want to really organize my boxes and bins and LABEL everything. I also want to hopefully attempt to cut down on the amount of stuff that I bring to school.... we shall see how that goes. ;-)

     2. Make fun Labor Day weekend plans. Labor Day weekend falls at the end of August this year, and it's a long weekend for me at school. I want to make sure that I do something really fun and memorable before my semester gets crazy and stressful!

     3. Make cute binder covers for my classes. This is something that I have to do before going back to school since finding color printers at my college is a bit of a challenge... haha. Last year I followed an online tutorial from a preppy fashion blog for how to make Lilly Pulitzer binder covers, and I tried to find that tutorial again but unfortunately that blog has been taken down and is now private. :-( But I instead found this tutorial and I think I am going to attempt it! I will update next month on how it turned out!

     4. Have a social media free vacation. At the end of this week, after I finish up at work for the summer my mom and I are leaving for a four day vacation in New Brunswick, Canada. She asked if I would leave my computer at home, but I think I'm going to take it a step beyond that and also turn my phone onto airplane mode during the trip and really get a full on break from social media (I already can't text since we will be out of the country!). I have never done this before and I think that a few days is the perfect amount of time. I will be keeping busy by doing stuff with my mom in the town we are staying in, reading a couple more "fun" books before schools starts, and watching TV in the evenings instead of just constantly checking my social media accounts!

So those are my August goals! Let's hope I do better then I did with July! What are some of your goals for this month? Share them with me! :-)

  1. Awesome goals, girl!! I especially love your social media, phone, laptop-free weekend that's in store for you! When do you head down to school? I feel like once August comes, it's already that time to head back down! I hope you have a good day at work. I saw your post in the HCBN and I am praying that it all gets figured out!! <3
