Midweek Ramblings (on a Thursday!)

{A beautiful afternoon at a beach in Norfolk yesterday! Follow me on Instagram @miss_alk}

This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for supporting Southern Belle in Training!

Ramblings:

  • Sunshine Sale: Just want to give a quick and huge thank you to anyone who shopped my blog's links for the Lilly Pulitzer Sunshine Sale. I use affiliate links on my blog for promoting retailers like Lilly, and I had a certain commission goal in mind for this sale. I had a lot of website traffic on my Lilly Pulitzer blog posts, and thanks to that I more than tripled my initial goal! So thank you to all of you who share in my love of Lilly and shopped through my blog this time! Means the world to me.
  • LulaRich: Have you watched this documentary yet? It came out on Friday, and I'm planning to start it today after hearing a lot of buzz about it online. LulaRich is all about the inner works of LulaRoe, one of the most predatory and pyramid scheme-like MLM (multi-level marketing) companies out there. It's available now on Amazon Prime- I can't wait to watch. This article dives into it a bit more!
  • At-home COVID tests: At-home rapid COVID tests were approved for retail sale in the US several months ago, but trying to find them for sale in stores and pharmacies has been like trying to buy toilet paper in March 2020. This article breaks down the reasons for the supply-chain issues for these tests, and I found it to be an interesting read!

Weekend recaps:

  • Last weekend: I was in Texas visiting my friend Ciera! She and her boyfriend Patrick were wonderful hosts. The main reason I went down was for the Pitbull concert that Ciera and I had tickets for, which was amazing. The weekend also included a lot of Tex-Mex food and a day trip to the beach in Galveston! I also got to have breakfast and meet-up with my blogger friend Angela from Thrifty Pineapple before heading back to Virginia. It was a great trip!
  • This weekend: I have a tennis match with the league that I joined on Saturday morning, I'm working an event for my radio station later in the day on Saturday, and on Sunday I have some blog photos to do and I'm planning to go to a game for the local minor league baseball team! Should be a fun and busy weekend.
Purchases:

  • Sadly I don't think I can still link to my purchases from the Sunshine Sale since it has now ended, but I bought a casual dress, cute mini skirt and another face mask all from Lilly Pulitzer this week! Very happy with all three of my sale purchases.
  • I got these cute slides for fall this week, which I can't wait to style for an upcoming blog and Instagram outfit outfit.

Wishlist:

  • Last year I splurged on the most beautiful Olivia Rubin cardigan. They have released some similar ones with new stripe colors for this fall.
  • This is the cutest take on a basic t-shirt- I love the sleeve details! And it comes in many colors.
  • I've been wanting some bracelets in this style for awhile, but the only ones I could find were always from expensive boutiques. These bracelets sets are such a great cheaper dupe for what I've been looking for!
  • The past couple years I've been really into midi skirts for fall- this one would look good with white sneakers or boots.

Currently reading: The Young Wives Club by Julie Pennell - This was such a fun and lighthearted read! It's a novel about four young women in their late teens and early 20s in rural Louisiana, all of whom are either married or in serious relationships at young ages. I found it especially interesting to read since I'm in my late 20s and not yet married, so it was fun to read about four female characters with lives so different from my own.

Recipe of the week: Crispy Parmesan Chicken from Hello Fresh - In full honesty, I still haven't been doing much cooking from Pinterest or my cookbooks since I moved. I still feel like I'm settling in my new kitchen and routine, so Hello Fresh has been saving me in the meantime! This is one of my favorite recipes that I just got again in this week's box. It would be easy to duplicate on your own!

Song of the week: I Feel Good by Pitbull ft. Anthony Watts - Had to pick a Pitbull song thanks to his fantastic show in Houston last weekend!! This is his latest single.

Favorite blog posts of the week:

  • Diary of a Debutante - I've been reading Stephanie's blog for years, and she recently got married in my home state of Maine! She blogged the ways that she and her husband were able to save a lot of money on a destination wedding, and it was a great read.
  • A Touch of Teal - Although I've spent a good amount of time in Greensboro, NC, I have barely spent any time in the neighboring city of Winston-Salem. I really enjoyed reading Katie's travel guide for this charming and historic NC city!
  • Brighton The Day - This outfit from Brighton is what I would call Texas chic! Such a cute way to wear cowgirl boots for fall.

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese
