Ramblings:
  • International travel right now: While I don't plan to be traveling internationally anytime soon, I am fascinated to hear the stories of those who don't mind the testing and quarantine requirements and are getting out into the world. The US now currently requires proof of a negative test to re-enter the country if you've been away. A man visiting Mexico with his family recently tested positive and was unable to return home with his family. The travel website The Points Guy did an interview with him to learn all about what the quarantine process was like while staying at a resort in another country, which I found super interesting to read.
  • Winter fun in Virginia: Abigail and I went snow tubing this weekend and it was seriously the most fun that I've had in months! We did it at Wintergreen Resort, which is a beautiful ski resort deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains that's only an hour from Charlottesville. Tubing tickets have been selling out very fast this season as capacity has been reduced for social distancing. They go on sale for the week and weekend ahead Mondays at 12pm... I set an alarm on my phone last Monday to ensure I could get them. It was worth it to do that! Although I generally feel safe doing outdoor activities without a mask on, Wintergreen does require people tubing to wear masks at all times. Better to be extra safe I guess, so I did appreciate they require that. Next winter I'd love to go back and rent skis for the day and enjoy a day on the slopes!

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: On Saturday morning it was very chilly in Charlottesville, but I braved the 20-something degree temperatures and met my friend Lily downtown for a long walk with hot chocolate. It was so great to see her! On Sunday, my roommate Abigail and I went snow tubing at Wintergreen Resort- more about that in the Ramblings section of this post because it was SO fun. We stopped for an early dinner (outdoors and fireside) at Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton on the way back- a favorite restaurant of mine that I haven't been to since pre-COVID.
  • This weekend: My friend Caroline recently moved back to Virginia from South Carolina, and I'm hoping to see her in Richmond to celebrate her birthday on Sunday as long as the weather stays okay!

Purchases: No fun purchases this week. I've been in kind of a "meh" mood about clothes shopping lately with the weather being so cold and spring feeling far away.

Wishlist:
  • One of the chicest two piece bathing suit styles I've seen in quite awhile- and love the color.
  • This off the shoulder dress is yet another warm-weather piece that has me dreaming of a vacation that I have no plans for currently!
  • White dress season is almost here. I am traditional and typically wait until after Easter to pull any out, but that'll be here soon!
  • I have heard such good things about this line of summer sandals. They are certainly not cheap, but the quality is supposed to be amazing- a true investment piece! Considering getting some for this summer.
  • This cute burnt orange blouse reminds me so much of this one that I wore in 2018 (and sadly don't have anymore).

Currently reading: Talking as Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham - Since I finished Gilmore Girls for the first time a few months ago, I wanted to give Lauren's memoir a read. A few of you recommended that this book is better to listen to the audiobook of this so you can hear Lauren's amazing voice telling her own story. So that's what I decided to do! The chapters about Gilmore Girls have definitely been my favorites.

Recipe of the week: For the first time in a long time- nothing to put here for this week! My Hello Fresh meals this week have just been okay (whereas typically I love everything I get), and I haven't had much time to try recipes from my cookbooks outside of these. Hopefully by next Wednesday I'll have tried at least one new good recipe!

Song of the week: In the Morning by Jennifer Lopez - J. Lo is back!! She just came out with this single and it has to be one of my favorites of hers in a long time. She has still got it and she's just amazing. Hoping this becomes a big hit!

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Style Charade - Spoiler alert: Jenn is the next person I'll be featuring for my Inspiring Woman blog interview series (her interview will be published next month!). Most of my questions for her were career focused, and she dove into a few of them more deeply in this fantastic post on her own blog.
  • Extra Petite - I love the look of sweaters tucked over dresses on others, but have always felt unsure to try it myself. This helpful tutorial from Jean is giving me confidence to try this out!
  • Coffee,Prose and Pretty Clothes - Loving Deborah's weekly outfit round-ups from working from home. As much as I like styled outfit posts, I also like seeing what other bloggers wear day-to-day- hence why I share my own monthly work outfits on the blog!

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

  1. Oh my gosh! So fun. We normally go to the snow this time of year but with COVID wreaking havoc in our lives, we didn't plan a trip. My son actually had his first ski lesson and we wanted to keep that going but again better safe than sorry. I love the Gilmore Girls. I don't watch tons of TV but the Gilmore Girls and Smallville were two of my favorite shows. I will add Lauren's memoir to my reading list. I just started a book by James Rollins and I am not sure how I feel about it yet. I hope you are having a great weekend so far and happy Sunday!
