Ramblings:
  • Christians and online "matchmaking": This article from Christianity Today this week was so fitting for Valentine's Day! It interviewed a few social media savvy Christians who have used their online followings to start playing matchmaker for singles. I've followed both Evan and Rachel Welcher and Kelly Stamps, all interviewed in the article, for a long time now. I always enjoy hearing the crazy stories of how people met their significant other- and there are some good ones to read here!
  • Bridgerton tweets: Well, I finally finished Bridgerton! I know, I know... about two months behind everyone who binged right when it came out. I ended up liking it more than I thought I would... but hoooo booyyy, everyone who warned me about the steamy scenes was right! Haha. I'll leave it at that. With that said- once I finished the show I really enjoyed this round-up of some of the funniest tweets about the first season.
  • More winter: After a very mild December and a semi-mild January, winter is here full force in Charlottesville. It's snowed for the past three weekends in a row, and now we are getting more winter weather and a possible bad ice storm tomorrow. This New England girl who moved South for the weather is over it! I thought the first snowfall was pretty and fun, but I'm ready to get past this now. I am just thankful that Virginia is semi-better prepared for the inclement weather than states like Texas and Louisiana- absolutely crazy what's happening there right now.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: It snowed in Charlottesville (for the third weekend in a row on Friday!), and then we had freezing rain on Saturday. So most of my weekend was spent at home! On Saturday I had a true "lazy day," which was really nice and something I don't do much. I finished watching Bridgerton and started a new library book. On Sunday I went into work in the morning to scan and organize a bunch of my tax documents for this year, and then in the afternoon I visited Lilly Pulitzer River Road in Richmond to do a spring try-on that I'll be sharing soon!
  • This weekend: I am grabbing hot chocolate and going for a walk downtown with a girlfriend on Saturday morning (very similar plans to the photo above!). We were supposed to do that this weekend, but got On Sunday, my roommate Abigail and I are hoping to go snow tubing! There are a couple places that do it (they make their own snow) within an hour of Charlottesville. It's been awhile since we've done a fun roommate date just the two of us.

Purchases:
  • I feel like the last blogger in the world to purchase this, but I finally ordered the famous Revlon hair dryer brush over the weekend! I have some fun plans coming up soon that I would probably normally get my hair blown out for, but with trying to minimize COVID exposure I'm trying to avoid salon trips unless I'm getting my hair colored. So I'm finally excited to finally try this out! I have never been able to master the blow out look with a normal dryer, but I've heard good things about this and that it's user-friendly.
  • For years, I've been organizing my earrings on earring trees. As much as I love the look of that, I don't find it to be the most practical anymore. So I bought these jewelry trays instead! I'll keep you updated how I like this new organizer.

Wishlist:
  • I visited Lilly Pulitzer River Road in Richmond over the weekend to shoot some dressing room pictures for a spring try-on! I'll be sharing that next week. In the meantime, this was by far my favorite new Lilly arrival
  • With the winter weather, it is stupid for me to big thinking about swimwear for this summer. But here I am- doing that!
  • February is the month for all things pink... and these are my dream pumps!
  • A preppy little blouse in a pretty green that would be lovely for early spring.
  • Another spring item I'm loving- this affordable sundress that comes in a few prints.
  • This faux-wrap dress has "Annaliese business casual" written all over it!
  • A fun take on a classic white button down that adds ruffles!

Currently reading: 28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand - This is the new Elin Hilderbrand novel, and I've been on the waiting list at the library this book for such a long time! Some of Elin's books I absolutely love, some I find just okay, but I'm excited to get more into reading this one. I like it so far!

Recipe of the week: Sweet Chili Chicken Bowls from Hello Fresh - I am still doing and loving Hello Fresh! This was a fairly easy and tasty dinner I made on Monday night. This would be easy to duplicate with your own ingredients even if you don't use Hello Fresh (I love how they post all their recipes).

Song of the week: Love Story (Taylor's Version) by Taylor Swift - I haven't been a fan of Taylor Swift's last few albums, but I have a special place in my heart for the country-pop hit singles of her first three albums. Every time I hear Love Story, I'm automatically transported back to my freshman year of high school, sitting in the passenger seat of my dad's 1994 Oldsmobile and asking him to "TURN UP THE RADIO!" 😂 I wasn't sure how Taylor's new versions of her old songs would sound, but hearing the new version of Love Story made my week. Really excited to hear the whole Fearless album re-done!

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Southern Curls and Pearls - This is one of my favorite looks from Caitlin so far this year! It makes me excited for spring. (Also- how AMAZING does she look after just having her baby last month?!)
  • Come Home for Comfort - Whitney and her husband recently visited Disney World, and I really enjoyed reading her post about the COVID safety precautions that Disney is currently taking, as well as what has changed and what is still the same as past years!
  • Southern Sophisticated - Earlier this week, Naomi shared some of the cutest pink workwear outfits that I've ever seen! I love all of these looks.

On the blog this week:

  3. I haven't been to a salon in almost a year! I keep going back and forth about COVID. The Revlon hair dryer brush sounds like it can do some magic! I need to look into this. I also just borrowed 28 Summers book. I have heard great reviews on it so looking forward to diving in.
