Colorful and Preppy Early Fall Look + Summer Bucket List Recap.

It definitely doesn't feel like the first week of fall in Virginia this week- as the temperatures have been back in the mid-high 80s. A couple weeks ago we had a little taste of fall weather though- it got all the way down to the low 70s. Today I wanted to share this outfit that I wore during those cooler days, and I also wanted to recap my summer bucket list for this year- I was curious to see how many goals I accomplished!

I don't usually take photos for the blog with my iPhone (I just save those as Instagram only pictures), but I forgot my camera at home the day these were taken, so iPhone it is! 😊These photos were taken outside one of the beautiful fountains at Short Pump Town Center mall, which is just outside of Richmond. It has a lot of my favorite stores (and The Cheesecake Factory!) all in one spot and is a beautiful shopping center! I usually make it to Short Pump at least once a season, and I was there that day for this fun social media collaboration

The weather happened to be cool and fall-like on that day, and I think this was my first time wearing jeans in Virginia in months! I was so excited to finally wear this darling top from Chicwish. I love how it brings summer colors into a fall appropriate shirt- win win! I also had to wear my pink Hunter boots since there was a chance of rain in the forecast (although it did hold off).

Now let's take a look back at my Summer 2019 bucket list, which I originally shared back in this post. I like revisiting bucket lists at their conclusion to see what I was able to accomplish and what I still need to set as a goal!

My Summer 2019 Bucket List:
  • Visit the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Museum in Charlottesville - Nope. I sadly didn't get around to this over the summer. Hoping this might be a better indoor activity for the winter season!
  • Finally have one of my UVA alum friends give me an official tour of Grounds (UVA's fancy term for campus!)  - Yes! My friend Kelly is a UVA alum and also works there now. She finally gave me a tour of Grounds back in May. Seeing UVA's famous Rotunda building was definitely a highlight!
  • Go to five more new-to-me wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail - Yes! Definitely a summer of wine. New to me wineries that I visited on the Monticello Wine Trail were Gabriele Rausse, Trump, Glass House, Burnley and Flying Fox. I also visited many previous favorites again!
  • Visit a lake beach or ocean beach in Virginia - Nope. So sad this one didn't happen! I absolutely have to make it to finally see Virginia Beach next summer. Fortunately though I did get a lot of beach time this year when I went home to Maine in July.
  • Visit Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park for Free Entry Day on June 15th - Nope. True story I was supposed to visit here for Free Entry Day with the guy I was dating earlier this year... and we ended up breaking up the night before. Needless to say I didn't make it for a hike. 😂 Hoping to make it back to Shenandoah this fall!
  • Go to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond - Yes! Did this with my dad when he visited Virginia in late spring.
  • Visit the City Observatory Deck in Richmond - Nope. Hoping to hit this if I make it to Richmond during a weekday this fall.
  • Go to a concert (just bought a ticket last week for one!) - No/Yes? My friend Emily and I had tickets to see Kane Brown in Richmond back in May. We made it to the concert and saw the opening act perform... but then the weather turned to thunder and lightening, so Kane never made it on stage. But giving myself A for effort for trying going to a concert?
  • Go outlet shopping (either here or in Maine when I go home this summer) - Nope. My trip to Maine flew by, and I wasn't able to visit the Kittery or Freeport outlets. I also wasn't able to check out any in Virginia this summer. Ah well- better for my wallet!
  • Have 10 boxes packed in my apartment by August 1st (I'm moving to a new apartment over Labor Day Weekend) - Yes! Although even though I did this it ended up not being nearly enough preparations haha! Moving is so tough.
I'm a little bummed that I got only 50% through this year's summer bucket list, but at the same time I did a lot of other fun things this summer that weren't on the list, like an impromptu river tubing trip with friends, hosting out-of-town friends for weekends in Charlottesville, going to an early 2000s themed dance party, and much more! Summer is usually the only season that I make an official bucket list for- but this fall I'm excited to start tackling my first 101 in 1001 list.

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese

  1. I feel you, it doesn’t feel like fall in Bham either. I just love those boots and how you styled the whole look. I would’ve never know these are iPhone photos. They look amazing. I love this recap of your summer bucket list.
