Ramblings:
  • Social Media Free New Year: I haven't talked about this too much on the blog yet, but my 2018 began on a social-media free note! I was traveling out of state for New Year's weekend visiting a high school friend who lives in the Midwest, and I wanted the weekend to be a time to really be "in the present," and also just have a few days to not stress about things like Instagram followers or responding to blog emails. This time was SO needed! What a refreshing way to begin 2018. I might start doing a social media and blogging break around the holidays annually now! If you haven't done one of these in awhile (or ever)- I highly recommend!
  • US Figure Skating National Championships: This weekend I ended up binge watching something for three days straight... the US Figure Skating National Championships! I grew up figure skating and although it's been years since I was involved in the sport, it will always hold a special place in my heart. This is an Olympic year so the stakes were especially high, and each of the competitions did not disappoint! I even teared up a bit at a few of the ladies' free skate performances. I think it's on my bucket list now to attend Nationals someday! Are any of you figure skating fans as well?
  • More time in prayer: I had a lot of New Year's resolutions for this year, and my biggest spiritual one is to begin each day with prayer (especially weekdays!). While I've always done well at praying silently and talking to God throughout the day, I want to get better at specifically carving out time in my mornings to spend time with Him and talk to him verbally instead of just silently. So far it's been going well! I'm excited to see how this positive change will impact me as the year goes on.

Purchases:
  • Lots to share since it's been a couple weeks since I've done one of these posts! I got a very warm fleece pullover with a gift card that I received for Christmas in a pretty turquoise color! The color I bought isn't online, but this one is similar
  • This adorable sweater was on major sale right after Christmas so I also scooped this up! Last time I checked it's only in limited sizes online, but there are some similar ones in the same color in different styles.
  • I purchased these cute earrings! I have them in rose gold, they're available in red online.
  • I found this adorable sweater during my trip to Indiana, which is surprisingly really warm!
  • I LOVE metallic eyeshadows, so I had to splurge on this palette when I saw it at Ulta during my trip last weekend! I can't wait to start using it.

Wishlist:
  • Kind of wishing now that I had put these on my Christmas wishlist!!!
  • I think these heels are such a fun color for a winter night out.
  • I saw this gorgeous couch featured on another blog in a home tour last week, and I have it bookmarked now for my next apartment! Can't get over the price or what store it's from!
  • The Pop Socket that I bought over Black Friday for my phone has already fallen off and wasn't too well made. I'm looking for another one- this one is adorable
  • I wore some earrings from this brand in Kentucky and I'm loving this pair now!

Recipe of the week: Light and Creamy Tortellini Soup from Pinterest. I love a good soup in the winter, but the problem with cooking soups when you live alone is that it has to be a soup that you REALLY love, otherwise you'll get sick of eating it way before the leftovers run out! Luckily- this recipe was amazing. It's supposed to be a chicken tortellini soup but I didn't have any chicken at home so I made a vegetarian version and it was still amazing. It's very spicy, but I love spicy food so I thought that added a fun kick. Will definitely be making again!

Song of the week: Disciples - Jealousy. I've mentioned this in past Midweek Ramblings posts since I started doing Song of the Week, but there's another radio station here in Vermont (not owned by the company I work for, they're independent) and they play some EDM/Dance music, which is really fun since not a lot of stations play that! I found this song through that radio station. I've added it to my workout playlist, but I've been listening to it a lot in general lately. It has a fun beat and is really catchy.

Thanks as always for reading!! Hope that your 2018 is off to a fantastic start, and that it's warmer where you live!

      God Bless,

      xoxo Annaliese

  1. You found so many cute sweaters!! I really need to step up my sweater game. Also, that soup sounds so good, minus the spice. I wish I could get into spicy food!

  3. I love figure skating and watched the competition. I have attended one nationals and it looks like Greensboro is hoping to get them again in 2020.
I have a similar goal for prayer in 2018 and got a prayer journal from Val Marie Paper that I am loving. My church is also focusing the year on prayer so it's perfect. Out loud praying is something it took me awhile to cultivate. Jess at Just Jess

  4. My husband and I watched some of the figure skating and honestly, it was the first time I had watched any of that since I was younger-but I enjoyed it so much! It's such a beautiful sport and I just appreciate all of the talent and hard work that goes into it!
