Ramblings:
  • Las Vegas: I don't even have appropriate words to say about the tragedy in Las Vegas earlier this week. I am just heartbroken, and I feel like this hits especially close to home- partly because of my obsession with Vegas as a city, and partly because I work in the radio industry, and music festivals go hand in hand with that. Nothing that I could say here makes what happened any better, it just brings to light the fact that we live in a very fallen world. As many other bloggers did, I had a prescheduled blog post go up on Monday morning (while I was still asleep), but I decided to wait until yesterday to promote it on social media as I normally do, out of respect for the events. I did find it a bit distasteful that some bloggers were posting normal outfit pictures on Instagram on Monday morning with LIKEtoKNOW.it links.... yes business is business, but hours after an extreme national tragedy, there's just no reason for that in my opinion!
  • A busy weekend: This past weekend was a busy one, and it was so nice to have a lot going on and things to do!! As nice as downtime is, when I have too much of it at once I tend to get really into my head and sometimes into bad moods- anyone else like that? #extrovertprobs I didn't have a lot of quiet weekends back in Charlotte, so since moving to Vermont that's been kind of an adjustment. I met Nicholle for dinner on Friday, did a lot of cleaning in my apartment on Saturday after work, enjoyed helping with a volunteer opportunity at my church this weekend with my friend Anna, and had a super fun and creative blog photo shoot on Sunday evening with Melissa! This weekend made me realize how much I truly have missed busy weekends, and I hope more are in my future this month!
  • Thankful for parents: This is kind of an odd rambling- but I had two of the nicest phone calls with my parents on Sunday evening, and it really got my week off to a reflective and thankful start on Monday! I suppose with the news of everything in Vegas, in addition to all of the other crazy things in the world earlier this year, I've been thinking more about not taking important relationships for granted. I'm an only child, and I have what I would call complex relationships with both my mom and dad. We love each other deeply and are very, very close, but at the same time we also don't always see eye to eye on a lot of things, if that makes sense. Anyways, I had separate conversations with each of them that evening, and it was one of those nights where I just felt very thankful to have two parents who do overall care about me and my successes so much, and are there to support me, even if we don't always see life through the same lenses. Hug your loved ones closer this week, and call those who live too far for a hug!

Purchases:
  • Last week I bought a flight- actually the first one I've purchased since moving to Vermont(!!!) I am going to be spending New Years' 2018 reuniting with a long lost high school friend in her new state of residence, which is a new-to-me state! I am already excited to buy their Starbucks mug for my collection. 😊
  • In honor of my upcoming trip, I decided now was as good a time as ever to purchase some new luggage! I decided on this set (in aqua) and I cannot wait for it to get here!

Wishlist:
  • The gallery wall that I have in my Vermont apartment is in the gold, white, baby pink and black color scheme- and how cute would this gold and white print of my favorite city be as an addition to that?
  • I have a cozy longer black cardigan that I've been wearing all the time to work lately since the radio studio is so cold, and I want to order something similar to it, so that I have options in other colors!! I might order this one in the beige color!
  • If all winter coats were this beautiful, maybe I wouldn't be dreading winter in Vermont so much!
  • This crop top along with its coordinating pants make one HOT outfit!! Wish I had somewhere to wear an outfit like this (but I don't think any places in Vermont exist with a dress code like this- ha!).
  • Sometimes I wish I had a traditional office job just so I could wear classy numbers like this to work!

On the blog this week:

Thanks so much for reading- and have a great day!

      God Bless,

  4. Your new year’s trip to visit your friend sounds like so much fun! I’m with you on being respectful of tragedy, however, I do think it’s difficult to know when and what to say because there are tragedies so often, some are just more publicized to us than others. Like you said though, we shouldn’t be monetizing something so awful.

  5. I like your point about Las Vegas promos. I was supposed to have a blog post go up but didn't do it until late yesterday. I actually had the same feeling during the Irma hysteria, I saw a lot of people posting on Instagram photos of them partying and just being like "hope my house is safe" after they fled... it was really frustrating so I can only imagine what it's like for people directly impacted by this weeks tragedies.

  6. Really like the sweater, but loving that skirt haha. And totally agree with you about Las Vegas - while I did have my scheduled post go up Tuesday (and it was a bit of a happier one), instead of making light of the situation or joking about it, I didn't address the situation at all. I am deeply saddened by the events and sending prayers that way, I think we all needed some sense of normalcy and happiness. I couldn't ever use someone's tragedy for my own benefit however!
