Ramblings:

  • New weekend show: The photo above shares some fun news: I'm starting a new solo weekend radio show on my main station's sister station! I do Mornings for a country station, 97.3 The Eagle, but one of our sister stations is) Hot 100, a Top 40 (CHR) station. As much as I enjoy working in country radio, CHR radio will always be my first love, and the type of radio that I grew up on and inspired me to pursue this for a career. You can listen to me Saturdays from 10-2 on Hot 100 anywhere through their website!
  • Instagram's "boutique" problem: A fascinating read about the "ghost stores" of Instagram. You know the Instagram stores that pop up in the sponsored ads all the type advertising trendy boutique clothing? A lot of these companies are buying up fast fashion from places like Amazon and Shein and marking the items up quite a bit to make a significant profit. Although I don't personally really shop from these types of fake boutiques, I really enjoyed this article and learned a lot.

Weekend recaps:

  • Last weekend: On Saturday, I got to help judge a Halloween costume contest that was part of a local 10k race! It was so much fun, and I was so impressed by the creativity of the costumes. (I shared pictures of some of my favorites in this post on my radio station's website!) After, I met my friend Amanda and another new friend for lunch, and then Amanda and I went to Farmhouse Brewery, which is one of the more Instagrammable breweries in Virginia Beach. 😊 I skipped any evening Halloween plans this year and instead stayed in to finish the new season of You on Netflix! On Sunday, I took myself out for breakfast at IHOP, and then went for a walk to enjoy the fall weather at Mount Trashmore Park (which I hadn't gotten to visit yet).
  • This weekend: I am going on my first-ever work trip! I couldn't be more excited. I was supposed to be on a different trip in October that ended up getting cancelled due to Delta variant concerns, but so far so good with the plans for this trip. (I haven't said much about it on social media because I am kind of nervous I'll jinx everything with COVID if I say too much-ha!) I'll be gone for five days, back in Virginia Beach for a day, and then the following weekend off to North Carolina for the wedding weekend of two friends!

Purchases: No fun purchases for me this week, but I did start my Christmas shopping!

Wishlist:

  • These Christmas ornaments are just precious, and so preppy and classic! I think they'd make a great gift too.
  • These affordable floral earrings have been on my mind for awhile, and I might finally get them soon.
  • Over the weekend I was browsing in a local boutique that had a nice selection of sweaters and cardigans from this brand- they're all so cute!
  • I was in a tennis league from August-October which kept me busy, but in turn I didn't make much time to go to fitness classes at the gym. Now that the tennis league season is done, I am hoping to get back into a regular gym schedule. The workout tops from this line of activewear have really caught my eye lately.
  • I've owned a really similar sweater to this one in white for the past couple years, I love how this option comes in multiple colors though!

Sale of the week: My favorite tote bags are from Barrington Gifts. They are not only super cute and customizable, but they're extremely lightweight yet sturdy. I use one of mine every day as my work bag, and I also love using their bags as my personal item when I fly. Barrington is currently doing a great promotion, now through  November 12th use code TISTHESEASON for 15% off + free shipping. Today only though (November 3rd), take 20% off select smaller stocking stuffer items!

Currently reading: Unfinished by Priyanka Chopra Jonas - I've been wanting to read this for quite awhile, and finally found it at the Virginia Beach Library! I find Priyanka's career super fascinating, and I also can't wait to read about her talking about her marriage to Nick Jonas in her own words. I'm only a little bit into reading it so far but enjoying it a lot.

Recipe of the week: Turkey Sweet Potato Chili from Skinny Taste - I learned about this recipe from my friend Kelly-Anne! We had a chili cookoff at work last week and this is the recipe I used. Sadly I didn't win the cook-off (although the coworker that did win I thought was very well deserved!), but I still thought this came out great and it got a lot of compliments from coworkers. I did add beans to it (the original recipe is without beans).

Song of the week: Better Days by NEIKED, Mae Muller and Polo G - Favorite song of the week! To me this song has such a summer vibe, hopefully it wasn't released a few months too late.

Favorite blog posts of the week:

  • Something Delightful - Rachel and her daughter Madeline always do the most elaborate and fun DIY Halloween costumes. I look forward to seeing them every year! Their costume this year might just be their most detailed and best yet.
  • Joyful Teacup - Speaking of Halloween, my friend Katie shared a really great round-up of the easy and simple DIY costumes that she's done over the last few years. Her Halloween creativity is so inspiring!
  • The Small Things - Kate's current haircut and color are the inspiration for what I'm trying to do with my hair, and she breaks it all down in this post.

On the blog this week:

      God Bless,

      xoxo Annaliese
