Ramblings:
  • Facebook outage: How did you do Monday during the unexpected Facebook outage? Once I realized it was down, I was hoping I'd be more productive yesterday. But of course I just ended up spending more time than usual on Twitter and TikTok instead- ha! Anyways, I found this article really interesting to read about the outage. It talks about how in many impoverished parts of the world, Facebook and the FB owned messaging app WhatsApp are the only parts of the internet that people have access to, so Monday's outage was truly devastating.
  • To-do list: It's now been a full two and a half months since I moved to Virginia Beach! I'm starting to feel pretty settled, and I've taken care of the most important post-move tasks like updating my voter registration, changed my address with every company that needs it, and am really learning my way around my new area. The only things that I really have left to do are find a new primary care doctor, dentist and a vet for Delilah. I wanted to wait to find a doctor and dentist until I had health insurance at my new job, but my benefits just kicked in this week finally, so no more procrastinating. I loved my doctor and dentist in Charlottesville so I'm a bit sad to have to find new ones, hopefully it will be easy.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: It ended up being so busy and fun! My Friday started out on a wonderful note by getting a massage that my mom got me for my birthday. I then headed to a Happy Hour with some new Junior League friends at the cutest wine shop in Downtown Norfolk! We all had such a great time that we stayed out later and did dinner together at Luce, an amazing Italian restaurant in Norfolk. Saturday was a very full but great day! My new friend Amanda and I spent the earlier part of the day exploring Downtown Williamsburg. We then met up with a different group of my new Junior League friends to do Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens that evening! I'm not normally into spooky stuff, but I actually had a good time checking all the attractions out. On Sunday, I slept in since I was tired from the past two days, and then I met up with my new friend Emily at the beach (it was in the mid 80s Sunday!). I love full weekends like this one, and after 2020 I appreciate them even more.
  • This weekend: My friend Mercedes is visiting from DC for the Jonas Brothers and Kelsea Ballerini concert! I was able to get us tickets through my work and it'll be great. I'm actually not a huge JoBros fan (I know, I know!!), but I do really love Kelsea, and this will be the second time I've seen her live. We also have fun brunch plans for Sunday at a nice place I've been wanting to try in Virginia Beach.

Purchases: This week all I got for myself was a few random things at Ulta:
  • I need a new purple shampoo as the one I've been using has been starting to irritate my scalp, so I'm trying this one.
  • I was almost out of my regular facial cleanser- decided to mix it up and try one from this brand.
  • I tried this mascara a few years ago and didn't get the hype, but I figured I'd give it another go.
  • I got this super fun eyeliner to wear for an 80s themed party in two weeks!

Wishlist:
  • Jean season is back in the South! This brand makes my favorite jeans, I might have to grab another pair in a different style for this season (They're pricey but last SO well).
  • I've had this sweater tank top saved on my wishlist for awhile- I might finally need to get it in a fall color.
  • The most perfect Lilly Pulitzer pajamas for the cooler months- and yes they're hot pink!
  • Love everything about this eyeshadow palette- the colors, the packaging and the price!
  • I'm trying to figure out what to wear for a fall wedding next month, and I always love browsing the cocktail dresses from this line
Currently reading: Arrival City: How The Largest Migration in History is Reshaping Our World by Doug Saunders - Third week that I'm still working on this book! I haven't had a lot of reading time in the past few weeks. Hoping to finally finish it and head to the library soon.

Recipe of the week: Brown Butter Cardamom Banana Bread from Milk Street - This is the BEST banana bread recipe ever. The cardamom just makes it incredible. I had some bananas that were getting pretty old this week, so I whipped this up on Monday.

Song of the week: Don't Be Shy by Tiesto and Karol G -  A great new dance track that I'm loving lately! Dance pop will just always be my favorite.

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • The Stripe - I really enjoyed hearing about Grace's 40th birthday party, and I thought she made an excellent point in this post about how it's totally okay for single adults to celebrate their own milestones if they aren't married or having kids.
  • What Nicole Wore - Nicole asked her Instagram followers to share their best career advice, and she compiled it all into this blog post! While some of these tips aren't super relevant to the radio industry specifically, others definitely are. Either way- I enjoyed reading this and I think any working woman would too!

On the blog this week:

      God Bless,
