Ramblings:
  • New cookbook: I've talked about this a lot on the blog over the past few years, but Chrissy Teigen's Cravings books remains one of my all-time favorite cookbooks! (I just got her second Cravings cookbook for Christmas this year.) I was overjoyed to see in this article that Chrissy's mom Pepper is coming out with her own Thai cookbook this year! I think it's safe to say I'll definitely be ordering once it's out.
  • Good news: If you need a smile this week. this story about a kindergartener and her amazing kindness initiative for a local nursing home is just the sweetest!! I volunteered weekly at a nursing home in Charlottesville in 2018 and 2019, this story really made me miss that. It's something I'd love to get back into post-pandemic.

Purchases:
  • I have a beloved black winter coat that I've had since college, but it's safe to say at this point it's seen better days, haha! When I saw this gorgeous black coat was on sale for 50% off over the weekend, I jumped to get it. I love it! The faux fur on the hood is so soft.
  • Also had a couple fun drugstore makeup buys this week! I'm testing out this matte drugstore eyeshadow palette- I like it so far.
  • And I'm also trying out this drugstore foundation this week as well! I typically use prestige brand foundations, but am hoping to find a cheaper drugstore one I like this year.

Wishlist:
  • This is such a cute and fun floral patterned sweater. I feel like it would be a great transition piece for early spring.
  • Loving these cozy but chic neutral sweaters, especially the tie-front one.
  • Okay one more sweater find! It's January so I feel like it's okay to feature this many on my wishlist. I love this ruffled turtleneck, and the teal color it comes in is super pretty.
  • I have several fuzzy sherpa pullovers and definitely don't need another- but I love the pattern of this plaid one! Would be great to wear around the holidays next year.
  • I am craving a new nice crossbody bag for spring! Not sure yet if I'll splurge soon or not.

Currently reading: The Home Edit Life by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin - This is the second book by The Home Edit! I got it for Christmas this year. I am only a couple chapters in so far, but much like their first book it's already encouraging me to re-organize my whole apartment.

Recipe of the week: Baked Fish from Cook's Country - I enjoy eating fish, but typically don't buy it much to make at home. This week I decided to try a new fish recipe. This baked fish is very easy to make for a weeknight meal, and the breadcrumbs on it are super tasty.

Song of the week: One Whole Day by Dixie D'Amelio ft. Wiz Khalifa - What a catchy and fun pop song! It's all about the type of happy break-up where you aren't really that sad, and are ready to just move on and be done with the person. (I may or may not have had one of those last year 😉.)

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Chronicles of Frivolity - Beautiful words from Katey in this post about finding contentment and balance in your current season of life.
  • Covering the Bases - I'm loving following along how Krista is decorating and settling into her new house!
  • Heather Bien - Out of all of the 2021 goals/resolutions posts I've seen so far, Heather's is so detailed and I think my favorite that I've read!

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

  1. Volunteering at a nursing home sounds like such a lovely way to spend your time! We have a few from our congregation who are in a local nursing home, and they would light up when we would visit! I know a lot of nursing homes have banned visitors during the pandemic, so I'm sure volunteering again (when we can that is) would make their day!
I loved Chrissy's cookbook as well! Thai is so yummy, so I'm interested in her mom's book too.

  2. Chrissy Teigen's cookbooks are a hit in my house! I've made so many things out of them that everyone loves. You have to try her chicken lettuce wrap recipe. It's so good!
