Ramblings:
  • Meme of the year: I can't believe that at the time last week's Midweek Ramblings was published, it was before the famous Bernie Sanders meme existed! Haha. Whatever your political leanings, I think we can all agree that meme is incredible. Just when I think I've seen the funniest one... I see another that's even funnier! Hopefully this is just the start of 2021 being a great year for memes.
  • Tax season: It's here yet again! When do you typically do your taxes? Do you do them super early or wait until the deadline? I'm usually sometime in February or March. I need to schedule this year's appointment! If I only had my radio job, I'd probably do them myself with Turbo Tax, but because of blogging I always use an accountant. I really like the one I use locally in Charlottesville- if you're in this area and looking for one I'm happy to give you the recommendation.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: Another quiet weekend at home, but a good one! For the second week in a row, I ordered takeout on Friday night (that might be my tradition for the rest of winter). On Saturday I ran errands in the morning, spent time in the afternoon baking and decorating Valentine's themed cookies (recipe below!), and then I met my friend Kelly at Target to shop together. On Sunday, I watched a church service, worked on the blog, and did more reading on the book I'm working on.
  • This weekend: I'm meeting my blog photographer Hannah in Richmond for a quick Valentine's themed shoot right after work! Other then that- no plans yet. Definitely a quiet month for me in terms of weekend plans with the weather being cold and COVID cases on the rise.

Purchases:
  • My local Target has a big clearance section right now, and I found this gorgeous maxi dress for just $12 over the weekend!! It's sold out online in most sizes- so I found this similar option (although it is a bit more than Target prices).

Wishlist:
  • My roommate Abigail got me a Kendra Scott gift card for Christmas that I haven't used yet! I currently have my sights on this gorgeous ring. The problem is I don't know what color I'd like!
  • A fun little polka dot peplum top that could be dressed up or down (and it's on sale!).
  • One of my girlfriends in Charlottesville started an Etsy shop last year where she makes the most stunning polymer clay earrings! How pretty is this watercolor pair?
  • When I was at Target this weekend, I saw they had their bathing suits out! I definitely won't need one anytime soon, but I did think this bathing suit top was cute- it reminded me of a trendy sports bra!
  • The absolute cutest Lilly Pulitzer Luxletic item in one of their new Valentine's prints!

Currently reading: Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah - still working on this book from last week! It's about a reunion between estranged adult sisters, and a mysterious child who shows up in a small town in rural Washington state.

Recipe of the week: Sugar Cookies from Southern Curls and Pearls - Caitlin's Christmas sugar cookie recipe is one of my very favorites! I use both her cookie recipe and the decorating tutorial that she links. These cookies are also perfect for Valentine's, or just any day that you want pretty and tasty cookies!

Song of the week: My Head & My Heart by Ava Max - This is the BEST new song by Ava Max! She samples one of my all-time favorite early 2000s songs, Around the World by ATC. When I heard the classic "la la la la la" from ATC in this song, I got so excited!!

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Something Delightful - Rachel shared all of her favorite hair products and tools for styling her short haircut. She always has incredible volume- even though my hair is longer than hers, I'd like to try some of these!
  • Style Charade - I absolutely loved Jenn's round-up of the most colorful coats in her closet- inspired by Inauguration Day fashion!

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese
