Ramblings:
- Virginia road trip ideas: Have you heard in the website Only In Your State? Their posts often go viral on Facebook. I've recently started reading a lot of fun articles on the Virginia website, and I thought this one was so fun, with suggestions for 9 unique Virginia road trips. AAA has called 2020 the summer of the American road trip thanks to COVID, so I enjoyed this round-up of local ideas!
- Country one hit wonders: Thanks to everyone who has been voting and enjoying my early 2000s one-hit wonder bracket on Instagram Stories! I definitely want to do more fun music brackets in the months to come. (Here's the Spotify playlist with all the songs if you haven't seen it.) Anyways- I've had a few requests to do the early 2000s country version of this bracket. Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with country music from before 2010ish- I didn't start listening to it until high school. But this Youtube video is a great watch if you are a fan of older one-hit wonder country songs! Grady, the vlogger who made it, actually lives here in Charlottesville and his country music videos are awesome.
Weekend recaps:
- Last weekend: I visited the small but charming town of Mathews, VA with my friend Mercedes for July 4, and it was a great weekend away. Here's my Travel Guide!
- This weekend: I have a friend's small birthday gathering to attend outdoors at a winery on Saturday, but the weather looks questionable for that afternoon so I'm not sure if that'll still be on. Other then that no big plans! Looking forward to relaxing.
Purchases: None this week- other than all the delicious food I ate on my weekend trip. 😊
Wishlist:
- One of my favorite bloggers, Christina of Carolina Charm, wore this gorgeous pink bathing suit last week. An immediate add to my wishlist!
- A cute and affordable workout top.
- New Lilly arrivals- I swear their swimsuits have gotten even cuter this year.
- It's obviously not the right season for a sweater dress, but this one is incredibly marked down right now!
- An easy striped dress to wear now for work (if you're back in the office) that you'll be able to transition into fall soon.
Sale of the week: J. Crew has an amazing markdown on their clearance right now!! Take an extra 70% off items that are already on sale.
Currently reading: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas - This finally came in for me at the library! I'm not too far into it yet but I can already tell it's a very powerful story.
Recipe of the week: Penne a la Betsy from The Pioneer Woman - I have been on such a kick for Ree's recipes the past few months! This one is a delicious pasta dish. It calls for shrimp which I don't eat, so I made a substitution for hot italian sausage instead.
Song of the week: Calling On Me by Sean Paul ft. Tove Lo - This is such a good song! I'm sad it's not doing very well chart-wise here in the US. This should be dominating the summer music scene in my opinion.
Favorite blog posts of the week:
- Bess Carter - Bess's blog is one of my favorite resources for workout routines and fitness tips. Loved this post with her advice on establishing a new fitness routine!
- Covering the Bases - Krista's much awaited skort review went live this week, just in time for me as I've been wanting to buy more of them for tennis this summer.
- Prep In Your Step - Dorothy did a fun round-up of her most worn jewelry pieces. I've been wanting to write a post like that for awhile, now I feel extra inspired to!
On the blog this week:
God Bless,

I met Ree Drummond on her book tour here in DC back in like, 2010 and she is a DOLL. It made me love her recipes even more than I already did! Her cinnamon rolls are a staple for me and I'll definitely check out this pasta dish. Yum.

I want to visit Virginia again so bad! I went for work but didn't get to truly explore so it's definitely on my list!
ReplyDeleteI am loving your one hit wonders stories, so fun! Lilly really is killing the swimsuit game. When we go to the beach next I am going to pick one up. They look really flattering too. I want to try this Pioneer Woman recipe, I love her.
