Christmas Decor 2019.

How are we already less than a week out from Christmas? As per usual, December has absolutely flown by. I have a different fake tree this year than I've used for the past few years, so I wanted to be sure to snap a few photos of this year's tree and decor before the season ended for the blog! I plan to share a tour of my whole new apartment on here in January.

I am kind of loving having the white tree with colored lights! I think it's the perfect fit for the bachelorette pad that my roommate and I have made our new home! You might remember that I had a green fake tree for the past few years. I purchased this one a couple days after Christmas last year, when all of the decor goes majorly on sale. I'm pretty sure this is the exact same tree, so if you're interested in getting one for yourself I recommend waiting until the day after Christmas since there might be a good sale on it again. 😊

Thank you all again for your kind messages and prayers for my mom after her surgery this week! She is still in the hospital but in really great spirits despite everything, which I admire her so much for! As of today, she will still be there for a couple more days at least. I'm not sure I would have the same good attitude that she does if I was the one in her shoes. My parents were supposed to visit me here in Virginia for Christmas next week, which obviously won't be happening now.

Since this all happened just a few days ago, I was really unsure about what to do for Christmas. In a perfect world I'd just pack a bag and head home, but of course adult life is a bit more complicated then that. Last minute flights at the holidays are not cheap - something I know firsthand since I ending up finding one for Thanksgiving last month. (And my old car is in no shape for a spontaneous road trip that long.) It's also not the easiest in my line of work to take last minute holiday PTO. In the radio world, you typically have to get stuff approved quite far in advance, and several of my coworkers are already off for the holiday week. (Only Christmas Day is a holiday for us, I was planning to be working the rest of next week). And lastly- it would be super hard to find pet care for several days for Delilah over Christmas week with just a few days notice. Most of my friends that could watch her will be out of town, and she didn't have a good experience being at a boarding facility last Christmas so I never want to repeat that if possible.

My parents keep insisting that I should stay here and they will reschedule their visit when my mom is well enough. I feel partly really guilty about this, and like I should be home! But with all the factors above it honestly would be kinda tough to pull off that trip last minute. My mom and I have been staying in good communication every day, and I guess that isn't much different than if I was there in person (thanks to modern technology!). So as of now, the plan is for me to stay here for Christmas. Should stuff change with her obviously that could change, but for now this is the plan. Once she has more of a timeline for recovery I can't wait to reschedule their visit here. It's a tough situation for sure, and one I'm fortunate to never have dealt with before! I hope in the years to come both my parents will be happy and healthy over holidays.

Wishing you a great weekend before Christmas! I have some fun blog posts for the last two weeks of 2019 (including my annual Year in Review posts!) that I can't wait to share.

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese
