My 10 Summer Fashion Essentials.

I did a poll on Instagram Stories last week to ask y'all's thoughts for upcoming blog post topics, and a post about sharing my summer fashion essentials was by far the most popular! I wear bright colors and bold patterns year round, but I can really kick it up a notch in the warm months. I love being able to wear sandals, dresses all the time (without tights!), and being able to pull out all of my cute "weekend" clothes like rompers and tank tops. While going through my closet recently, I realized that although I do own a ton of summer clothes, swimwear and accessories, there are certain things that I tend to really wear on repeat during this time of year. Some things that you've seen me wearing on the blog or Instagram often, and a couple things that I've probably never worn for blog photos! I wanted to round up these favorites for you today, in case your closet is still lacking anything for the warm months ahead!

     1. Gold clutch: Summer is the time when I pull out all of my fun smaller purses and clutches! My large work bag seems especially clunky to use for anything except work in the warm months, and I love taking out different purses for weekends. This gold clutch is wonderful and matches every fun summer outfit! Pink Colony gifted it to me for NYFW a few months back, but it's truly the ideal summer bag.

     2. Miller sandals: I just bought my first pair of Tory Burch Miller sandals this winter (a present to myself for my job promotion!), but even being just a couple months into wearing them I already see why they're so popular. For such a small and not super padded sandal, they are very comfortable to walk in and wear! They go with everything- from casual athleisure outfits to dressy outfits. They are definitely a splurge purchase, but I'm so glad I finally got my first pair.

     3. Colored aviators: Summer is the time for fun sunglasses! I have two different colored pairs of the DIFF Cruz aviators. I wear them all the time in these months, especially when reading a good book out by my pool!

     4. Maine Isle flip flops: My mom and I used to have a special tradition where she would buy me a new pair of L.L. Bean Maine Isle flip flops each summer. I currently have five or six pairs (maybe more?) so a year or two ago I finally told her to push the brakes on that for a few years! 😂While I don't ever wear these flip flops in blog photos, I actually live in them during the summer! They're so comfortable and supportive, and each pair lasts forever. I wear them to the pool, the gym, and for running weekend errands!

     5. Jean shorts: Last summer I finally found the best pair of affordable jean shorts from JC Penney- and the best news is they're back in stock for this year! They're comfortable and well-fitting, and they're short without being too short. JC Penney often does online sales and promotions on them so you can get a really good deal!

     6. Pendant necklace: Sometimes in the heat of summer I prefer to wear more dainty jewelry, and I''ll save my chunky statement necklaces for when it gets cooler again. Last summer I got myself and one of my best friends matching Kendra Scott Elisa pendants for our birthdays, and this year I've been wearing mine nonstop, as it looks great with most of my summer outfits!

     7. Colorful cardigan:True life, I'm always cold! Especially at work as the AC is always on full blast in the radio studio. I live in cardigans over my sundresses and summer tops! I own a ton of them from all different places (LOFT and Lands' End also make great ones) but my favorites seem to always be from J. Crew and J. Crew Factory! They release their classic styles in new colors each summer, and they hold up well.

     8. 3/4 sleeve length t-shirt dress: As much as I love Lilly Pulitzer's shift dresses or more dress styles, the Lilly dresses that I have and wear the most frequently are definitely their casual day dress styles! I own dresses in the styles of Marlowe, Margot and Sophie, but they have a variety of other casual cotton styles as well. Since my work dress code is casual, I live in these on summer weekdays! I also find them perfect for church and other weekend events as well.

     9. Printed tank top: You can't be too surprised to see a good bit of Lilly in this list! Haha. I own two of the Gigi tank tops and I love them! Such a flattering style, and they hold up very well through wear and washes. I love pairing them with a pair of skinny jeans and wedges for a night out, or tucking them into summer skirts!

    10. Dark jean jacket: My beloved dark jean jacket is one of the things that I've had for the longest in my closet. Mine is amazingly from Forever 21 and I've had it over 10 years now?!! Which is first and foremost just crazy that something from F21 has lasted that long. But anyways- a dark jean jacket is the essential item for summer. I might even say I wear mine more than I do my favorite cardigans- and I wear those quite a bit! You need a jean jacket if you don't currently have one.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! Hope that your week has been great so far. The weather is hot and sunny in Charlottesville all week long, so I'm trying to squeeze in a little time to read and sunbathe by my pool each afternoon!

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese
