Midweek Ramblings.

Ramblings:
  • Weirdest old recipes: This is the definitely the funniest and oddest thing I've seen on the internet this week! It's a round-up of weird recipes from the 1950s that definitely wouldn't fly being made today. The only hint I'll give you is that there were a lot of Jello recipes featuring ingredients that should never be combined with Jello- haha!
  • Summer TV: Most of the TV shows that I love run during the normal season from fall-spring, but this year I'm excited for a couple summer TV shows, both premiering this week and next! Season six of Younger comes back starting tonight, and I can't wait! While this show is a little on the raunchy side, I do enjoy the main plotline, and I also love the fashion! (Younger is about a 40 year old woman who lies about her age to get a new job post-divorce.) I downgraded my cable plan a few months ago so I don't get the channel that it's on anymore, but thankfully it is on Hulu! The other show I'm excited about is a new ABC drama called Grand Hotel. It's set in Miami, and takes place in a family-owned hotel. (Sounds a little like Jane the Virgin in that way- another favorite show of mine!) Grand Hotel sounds like a perfect summer drama, and I'm looking forward to watching it.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: On Saturday I made my first trip to Lynchburg! I've driven through here a few times but this was my first time actually exploring Lynchburg. It was a great day and I really want to go back and explore more soon- the downtown is a lot bigger than I thought! My boyfriend and I did an escape room there, and it was my first time doing one! Sadly we didn't finish in time, but it was still lots of fun. On Sunday I visited a new church with my friend Emily, met up with my friend Leslie for lunch, and then rested for the rest of the day. Last weekend was the perfect mix of doing fun things and also relaxing.
  • This weekend: Spending the full weekend in Charlottesville / Central Virginia - first weekend I haven't ventured on at least one further away day trip in quite awhile! Shenandoah National Park is free entry on Saturday, and I want to take full advantage of that. I've only been to Shenandoah once prior, which is kinda sad since I live within 30 minutes of the entrance! Also hoping to go to King Family Vineyards for polo again on Sunday after church.

Purchases: Currently in the middle of a two month shopping fast on personal purchases! I did order my dad's Father's Day gift in the past week though- I'll share what I got him next week after he receives it.

Wishlist:

  • This bathing suit was 20% off a few days ago... I almost broke my shopping fast to buy it!
  • This cute little t-shirt that comes in multiple colors is perfect for any summer occasion- I'd wear it for work and weekends.
  • I really like this romper- some rompers are so skimpy, but this one definitely covers everything that needs to be covered, but is still cute!
  • One thing I might treat myself to for my birthday is a nice card wallet- the wallet is I use in my work bag is too large to fit in some of my small purses! I love this card wallet
  • A chic button-up shirt perfect for work.

Recipe of the week: Anytime Chicken Dressing from this Southern Living cookbook. This is a delicious and super easy cornbread chicken casserole! It tastes like the yummiest Southern comfort food, and it also would be a super easy casserole to make for a party or to bring to someone who needs a meal!

Song of the week: If I Can't Have You by Shawn Mendes. Honestly I haven't been a huge Shawn Mendes fan in the past, but there's something about this song that I can't get enough of! Definitely a great summer bop.

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • GoodTomiCha - Tomi rounds up 15 influencer networks that do sponsored campaigns with bloggers of smaller followings. This is a great round-up for someone new in blogging who wants to start doing collaborations! I've worked with many of these networks myself and I think this is a great round-up.
  • Magnolia Charles - Sally recaps her visit to Magnolia Plantation- I'm going to Charleston later this year and want to add this to my trip list!
  • Olivia Rink - Olivia interviewed a good friend of hers that's a dietitian, and I loved the tips in this post (healthier eating is something I can always get better at!).

On the blog this week:

  3. I love these little thought roundups! Such a great idea to catch up with you quickly. I have been on a shopping fast for what feels like the last year since I started my blog. Now that we are moving to Asheville, I will have to break the fast to buy warm clothes. I cannot wait. Dress me for the fall, please!
