Ramblings:
  • NYFW countdown: T-8 days until I head up to the Big Apple for my first full NYFW experience!! This week is crunch time for preparation. I'll be spending a lot of my free time this week on remaining show an event pitch emails, as well as starting to pack. It still doesn't feel real that I actually get to go and experience this in person. I think it probably won't feel real until I get on the plane next week!
  • Great movie to see: I know I've shared before that I'm much more of a TV person than movie person, so it's rare that I see a movie in theaters that I think is wonderful. Well- that happened this weekend! My friend and I saw Green Book on Friday night, and I can't recommend this beautiful film enough. Green Book tells the (true) story of Don Shirley, and African American pianist who enlists an Italian American man, Tony Lip, to accompany him on his first musical tour in the South. The movie is set in the early 1960s, when racism is still incredibly prevalent in most southern states. This movie is incredibly moving, and also quite comedic at other points! I thought it was much better than the trailer made it look, and I can't recommend this enough. See this before it leaves the big screen!
  • Tax season: Confession time: filing taxes is 100% my least favorite thing about being an adult. Last year, I ended up having to owe money to North Carolina for an internship that I did while in broadcasting school, and after that experience I'm even more nervous to file this year. I keep putting off and putting off filing... but I know the more I put it off the more stressful it will get. I don't think I'd hate taxes as much if I only had day job income, but with blogging it makes things a bit more complicated (and my blog isn't an LLC so I file my blogging income with my day job). If you have any motivation for me to overcome my fear and just do it, please share- haha!
Weekend Recaps:
  • Last weekend: My friend Perrin visited me! We went to two wineries on Saturday afternoon, and then had dinner at The Melting Pot for their Charlottesville Restaurant Week menu. Despite the weather being really cold, we still had a great time exploring! Perrin and I were ADPi sisters in college, so we also took time to check out the ADPi house at UVA, which was really cool!
  • This weekend: Headed to Richmond on Saturday! My friend Emily has never been to At Home before, which is one of my favorite stores ever. I'm always down for an At Home trip, so I can't wait! On Sunday I'm teaching Sunday School, and then there's a luncheon at my church after. I don't have Super Bowl plans this year as I'll be going to bed shortly after the game starts- morning radio probs!
Purchases: No fun purchases this week as NYFW is quickly approaching, and I'd much rather save money right now to shop in New York! I have all my outfits already for the trip. But I am looking forward to getting some new things for my apartment at At Home this weekend.

Wishlist:

  • Lilly Pulitzer's Valentine's Day looks are here- dying of course over this bright pink dress! Crossing my fingers this will be in the summer After Party Sale.
  • I mentioned in last week's post that I had my first experience buying a designer dupe from Amazon. I think I'm kind of hooked now- and I really want to try out this Neverfull dupe.
  • I'm in need of a tripod for my DSLR camera- definitely want to get that before NYFW and some March trips I have on the way. I've got my eye on this one
  • This dress is pretty crazy and out there- but I feel like it could've been cute for NYFW?
  • I'm clearly in a dress mood this week! Third dress on this week's wishlist... I think this lace dress would be so cute for late winter/early spring, and would look great with tights!

Recipe of the week: Vietnamese Lemongrass Beef and Noodle Salad from The New York Times. Vietnamese is one of my favorite ethnic cuisines, but I've never really attempted making any of my favorite dishes at home! I've heard that Pho is really hard to make at home, so I tried my hand at Bun, which is another great Vietnamese dish. I thought for my first ever attempt at this type of food it came out pretty well! This recipe was also easy to follow.
Song of the week: Tout Oublier by Angele ft. Romeo Elvis. As it has been lately, a new fun international hit is my song of the week! I discovered Angele through the Top France playlist on Spotify. This song was actually number one most streamed in France a few weeks ago, and is currently at number six on the Spotify chart.

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,
