Ramblings:
- Morning show- again: This week has been a crazy one at work! I had the chance to fill in for a week a few weeks ago on our morning show... and unexpectedly I'm doing it again this week! I've shared before on the blog that working as a morning show radio personality is one of my big career goals, so I'm thankful that I've had a lot of opportunities lately for exposure to this fun position! I'm also trying to be really good this week about going to bed early, so that I can feel super refreshed and awake each day.
- Christmas shopping: I am so proud of myself- a lot of my Christmas shopping is already done!! I just have a couple more friends to buy for, and a few more things to get for my parents. I think that last minute Christmas shopping is one of the most stressful things in the world, so I will do literally anything to avoid it! My goal is always to be completely done by December 1st.
- Cats and Christmas trees: So last night around 8:30 pm, Delilah decided to attack my Christmas tree! She was able to knock it down completely. I have a 6ft tall fake tree, and so far it only had lights and the topper on it. She'd been trying to play with the branches all week, so last weekend I finally bought a spray water bottle, and I'd try and get her with water when she would get in the tree branches. Apparently that didn't help at all! I don't want her to keep knocking it down once ornaments are on... fellow cat owners, any tips for me?
Weekend recaps:
- Last weekend: I feel like I got a lot done last weekend! I dog sat for my neighbor while she was traveling, had a much needed oil change and tire rotation, went to barre class, and finally activated my new iPhone! I asked for a new iPhone for Christmas this year, and my dad and I picked it up when we visited a few weeks ago. I've been so busy since then that it took me two full weeks before I could sit down and take time to set up the new phone!
- This weekend: I have a baby shower on Saturday morning for someone in my church small group. Crazy to me that I'm old enough to have friends that are having baby showers now... ah! On Sunday after church, I need to pick up a furniture piece that a friend is selling me for a really good price. I'm SO excited to bring this home and show y'all what it is, but a bit nervous to move it, lol!
Purchases:
- This week I bought my Christmas cards!! I know I know... SUPER early, but now I'll be so prepared after Thanksgiving to start sending them! I have used Walmart for my cards for the past two years, and I'm impressed with the quality for the low price.
- I'm also excited about this cute dress! Everyone needs at least a few LBDs in their closet, and this one has a subtle leopard print which I love. It'll be styled on the blog soon.
Wishlist:
- I know it's weird to be looking at bathing suits in November, but I stumbled on this striped bikini this week and it's so cute! If I was going anywhere warm for the holidays, I'd 100% order it. Plus what a great price!
- I love a light and bright sweater for this time of year- cold weather doesn't mean you have to just wear dark colors!
- It's rare to find tops at this retailer for under $20, but this basic top is on a great sale right now.
- I adore my cardigan from this brand, so I can imagine their bathrobe would make an amazing Christmas gift.
- This sweater/skirt set is so different, but really cute and preppy! Reminds me of a classic Gossip Girl outfit from an early season.
Recipe of the week: Raspberry Squares from America's Test Kitchen Cookbook. I know I've raved about this cookbook on the blog before, but it really is that good! My best friend Julia gave this to me for Christmas last year, and it was an awesome gift. I'm loving cooking my way through it. The raspberry squares are a really tasty and easy treat!
Song of the week: Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande. A cliche song to list for song of the week, but I think it is just really kinda cool that she turned the pain of her past heartbreaks into a very bold song. Also it's so catchy!
On the blog this week:
- Virginia Travel Guide: Jones Run Falls in Shenandoah National Park.
- Fall Business Casual Look + Things I'm Looking Forward To This Month.
God Bless,
xoxo Annaliese

ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting to fill in on the morning show - that's awesome! And I have also tried to be on top of Christmas shopping this year. I was thinking way ahead and got a couple of the really popular toys stashed away already. I waited too late last year and they sold out!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel great to get your Christmas shopping started so soon?! I've already brought two presents for my partner, have my eye on a third, and have two handmade gifts in mind. I love this time of year!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have an exciting and eventful weekend ahead, with the baby shower! Cute fall picture at the beginning of the post, by the way. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of jealous that so much of your Christmas shopping is done already, I haven't even started thinking about it! Such a crazy time of year! And that does sound like great experience filling in in the mornings - what a crazy, hectic but amazing experience that must be!
ReplyDeleteI just ordered my tree and I'm so excited to get it in. Michael's like so over me wanting to decorate already haha.
