Midweek Ramblings + Recent Purchases.

{Via my Instagram @miss_alk - follow me on Snapchat too @ miss_alk as well!}

Ramblings:
  • It's cold season. Despite getting really sick during the spring of my freshman year of college, I am lucky and have generally avoided other bad illnesses throughout college so far. Yet every year, I cannot seem to miss getting the common seasonal head cold when summer begins to become autumn. Every.single.year. The stuffy nose and congested feelings were starting to hit me today! My school's Fall Break starts this weekend though, so I'm hoping that by getting a good night's sleep tonight and starting to take cold medicine that I might be able to kick it!!
  • Asheville Bound! Speaking of Fall Break, I recently had a little plans change for my Fall Break agenda! Originally I was supposed to be traveling out-of-state, but those plans are going to be postponed until next semester. One of my best friends (my friend who just joined my sorority!) and I are going to visit Asheville for a couple of the days of break! Neither of us have ever been before and we are so excited to discover this little mountain city here in NC! Have any of you been to Asheville before? If so, please leave me any recommendations for food or things to do down below in the comments!
  • Photo Rut: I have been feeling in a little bit of a rut this past week in regards to shooting for my blog. A large part of that was due to the weather in Charlotte- we had almost two solid weeks of rain! But now that the sun is finally out again, I am still struggling with motivation for my photoshoots. I think that a large part of this is because I have to dress very casually on a few school days this year because I babysit some afternoons, and a couple other afternoons I have my internship (which has a uniform). So that doesn't leave many days for looking cute for class! But hopefully this weekend during Fall Break I'll be able to really catch up on doing some shoots for future blog posts- I know once I get back into the groove of things, it will be fine! Are any of you ever uninspired for your blogs after weeks of bad weather?

Purchases:
  • My mom came to visit me this past weekend here in Charlotte, and we did a little shopping while she was in town! One thing that I absolutely needed were rain boots, especially with the amount of rain that Charlotte has gotten recently. I ended up finding a pair in such a fun pattern. The ones that I got look very similar to these
  • I also got a super cute sweater from H&M!! I couldn't find my exact one on the H&M website (it might be an in-store item only), but this sweater is very similar! I can't wait to style it soon.
  • I ordered these Tory Burch earrings last month during my birthday month, but they were accidentally shipped to my address in Maine, so my mom just brought them down for me during her visit. (If you want to learn how to get an awesome deal on Tory Burch jewelry, check out my blog post from Monday!)

Hope that y'all are having a great week!

  4. It seems like everyone around me at school is getting sick, and I haven't caught it yet since I commute -- knocking on wood that I don't get sick too!

  5. Get better soon! All my coworkers are sick. I hope I don't catch their cold! H&M has the nicest things sometimes. That looks like a warm and comfy sweater (something I really don't have a lot of).

  6. If I was uninspired by bad weather, I'd never get anything done haha! It rains all the time here! We barely even had a summer! Sunshine does perk you up though so like you said, I'm sure you'll be fine once you get back into it. Also, I've had a cold for a couple weeks now that just won't shift so I feel your pain!

  9. I thought I was the only uninspired one lately. Mine is more school than weather.

  11. I haven't been able to take photos for the blog in a few weeks due to being so dang busy all the time and I hate it.
Also because of the awkward weather we're having right now -- I'd still be rocking summer clothes when everyone else is wearing fall stuff.
Hopefully we both get out of our ruts this weekend.

  12. Ugh...cold season! I've had so many kids out this past week with stuffy noses and sore throats! I'm getting nervous because I know I will be catching one soon. Guess I need to stay on top of it by taking vitamin c, washing my hands frequently and getting lots of sleep! Hope you feel better soon, sweet girl!

  13. Cold season is the WORST! I understand all the rain- I lived on the east coast till I was 12, and hurricane season was all too real for me in Virginia Beach.

  15. Oooh I can't wait to see your style post for the H&M sweater! I'm really not a friend of the rain... I spent last weekend helping my boyfriend clean out his flooded basement. Ugh!

  16. So sad that our plans had to be put on hold, but so excited for next semester! You are going to LOVE Asheville! Be sure to check out the Lilly Pulitzer store. Right by Lilly is a yummy restaurant called The Corner Kitchen. I highly recommend it!
