Ramblings:

  • Virginia Beach apartment content: Yesterday I finally shot a tour of my Virginia Beach apartment that I can't wait to share soon! I've lived here for 6 months now, and I'm really pleased with how my apartment has come together. It's a one bedroom, and I've turned it into a fun and bright little bachelorette pad. I'll have some blog posts soon, as well as a before/after video for IG Reels and TikTok. I can't wait to share more soon!
  • Dental problems: Not a very exciting rambling, but something I've been dealing with for the past few years. At the start of 2022, I found out that I had a couple new cavities, and also needed some childhood fillings re-done (who knew that fillings don't last forever!). I had the first half of the dental work done earlier in January, and didn't have any issues. About a week and a half ago, I went in for the rest of the fillings. Unfortunately I had a ton of pain after one of them. I went back a few days later, and had to have my bite realigned. Even though it's been about a week since I had it fixed, I've still been having some pain. I'm going to wait a little longer before seeing if I need to go back again. To add to the headache, there's been some hiccups with my insurance paying for what they're supposed to as well. Ugh!! Hoping all will be resolved soon. The joys of adulthood!

Weekend recaps:

  • Last weekend: I had a friend who was supposed to visit, but due to the snow on Saturday she decided to postpone her trip until this spring. (Probably a good decision- Virginia Beach I'm sure is much more fun in April than January!)  Saturday morning it snowed (second weekend in a row 😑), so I stayed home and got stuff done in my apartment during the morning and afternoon. On Saturday night, I went to The Cavalier (a beautiful historic hotel) to enjoy drinks at the bar there with my friend Tracey and her husband! It was great to get out after a day at home. On Sunday I went to church, took a beach walk, and got ready for the week ahead.
  • This weekend: Looking busy busy! My friend Caroline is visiting Friday night! I haven't had overnight company for a few months, so I'm looking forward to having her. We have dinner reservations on Friday night at a great spot! On Saturday, I was invited to brunch at a new friend's house. After church on Sunday, I have lunch plans with a new friend, and then hope to catch up with my friend Amanda after that.

Purchases:

  • No fun purchases for myself this week.

Wishlist:

  • The prettiest navy embroidered blouse.
  • This wrap dress would make a beautiful Easter dress!! It's under $60 which isn't bad for a nice spring dress.
  • A lightweight and classic button down that will be great for spring.
  • A super cute workout dress that is less than half the cost of the similar ones from retailers like Outdoor Voices.
  • Love this silky camisole and the fun bright colors that it comes in.

Currently reading: Not Your Mother's Rules: The New Secrets for Dating (The Rules) by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider - The Rules is a popular dating book for women that I believe was originally published in the 1980s or 1990s. While I never read the original, I was intrigued by this updated version that the authors wrote with their daughters a few years ago. A lot has changed about dating culture over the last 20-30 years, with the rise of cell phones/texting, social media and of course dating apps. I'm about halfway through the book- I definitely don't agree with everything that the authors suggest, but there are also some good points and tips that I think I can apply as dating principles going forward.

Recipe of the week: Chipotle Chili (recipe from my coworker but the one on this website is similar) - A few months ago at work, we had a chili cook-off luncheon. My coworker who won the cook-off had an amazing recipe. It was the most spicy and flavorful chili that I'd ever had! I think the chipotle peppers were the winning ingredient. My coworker kindly gave me her recipe! I ended up eyeballing and changing a few things when I made it this weekend. I'll see if I can get her permission to share hers on the blog soon! Until then- I found a fairly similar one linked above.

Song of the week: When I'm Gone by Alesso and Katy Perry - Being totally honest- I haven't loved a ton of Katy Perry's newer songs from the past couple years. But this one is a bop!! Total European dance pop vibes and I'm here for it.

Favorite blog posts of the week:

  • Southern Curls and Pearls - Caitlin shared the before and after process for organizing her bathroom cabinets and drawers! My apartment bathroom has been super unorganized since I moved last July, and it's something I hope to tackle soon. This post inspired me!
  • Heather Bien - It's been so fun to watch Heather and her husband renovate their new house and start the process of turning it into an Airbnb. Loved this Q&A Heather shared about what it's like to rent on Airbnb.
  • Caralina Style - Cara has found so many cute Valentine's decorations for her home! I especially love the DIY heart garland she made.

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,
