Ramblings:
- Second dose: Holy moly- I was absolutely taken out by my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday!! I was hopeful that I wouldn't have too bad of side effects but I didn't luck out. I had it all: fever, chills, headache, body aches, a very sore arm... and the unexpected bonus of stomach side effects and lingering nausea as well. Boo!! If you still have to get your second shot, just be prepared it could be a rough next day or two after. But it was worth it! I can't wait to be fully vaccinated in less than two weeks.
- Real life Princess Diaries: This European news story is insane! There is essentially a real life Mia Thermopolis in France right now. A 17 year old named Vittoria just found out she's been named heir to the Italian throne! (The only problem is Italy abolished its monarchy over 70 years ago, so there aren't any actual "powers" with this title.) But still- so cool!
Weekend recaps:
- Last weekend: I spent almost all of it in bed, recovering from my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine! Woof. On the plus side, I enjoyed some takeout, binged all of part two of Selena the Series on Netflix and some episodes of a few other shows, and finished the book I was reading last week.
- This weekend: I am headed to Richmond for my first "big" plans post-vaccine: my friend Sierra's bachelorette party! She is getting married in June on the West Coast, and most of us from Virginia aren't able to make it, so I am really glad that we all still have the chance to celebrate her at her bachelorette and bridal shower! All of us going are vaccinated, and this will be my first time in over a year spending time indoors with multiple people in a group (!!!) without masks. I am so pumped!
Purchases: No fun purchases this week!
Wishlist:
- A darling white embroidered blouse for summer- one of Lilly's cute new arrivals!
- An affordable and trendy pair of braided sandals that I can't believe are under $30.
- These statement earrings are beautiful (I love them in blue) and could be dressed up or down.
- Now that travel is really starting to resume, how cute are these little laundry and packing bags for your suitcase?
- This graphic t-shirt would be perfect for any trips home I'd have to Maine!
Currently reading: You're Not Enough and That's Okay by Allie Beth Stuckey - I've had this book on my shelf since last year, and finally getting to it! Allie explores the obsession in modern culture with the term "self love," and examines how many people's interpretations of self-love and self-care differ from what the bible and Christianity have to say about this.
Recipe of the week: French Breakfast Puffs from RefreshHer - Denise shared this recipe for these simple muffins on her blog earlier this week, and the ingredients reminded me of some that I used to enjoy getting at a bakery back home in Maine. I tried this recipe and they were so good. What an easy breakfast treat!
Song of the week: Waiting For Tonight (Hex's Momentous Radio Mix) by Jennifer Lopez - Who else is loving the early 2000s pop culture blast this week with "Bennifer" being back in the news? Haha! Thought it was only fitting to have a J. Lo song for Song of the Week. I love this fun dance remix of her 1999 hit Waiting For Tonight!
Favorite blog posts of the week:
- Summer Wind - Sydney shared this fun round-up of East Coast weekend trip destinations! It included favorite places she's been, as well as reader recommendations.
- Prep In Your Step - This is a great round-up of graduation gifts for the guys in your life- although I think a lot of these gift ideas could also be saved for birthdays, Father's Day, etc.
- Carolina Charm - Christina's family adopted a pet guinea pig named Sprinkles last year at the height of the pandemic. Honestly her guinea pig content has been some of my favorite things that I've seen online this year! Their family just celebrated a year of Sprinkles, and this is the cutest blog post!
On the blog this week:

- Inspiring Woman Interview: Meet Carla Marie of The Carla Marie and Anthony Show
I'm sorry your vaccine knocked you out! Most everyone I know had a similar reaction. We were just soooo tired and my arm was incredibly sore. Totally worth it though!
