Ramblings:
  • NEW car: In last week's Midweek Ramblings I said that I was hoping to be able to report good news on the car front this Wednesday... thankfully I am! I am proud to say I took my new car home on Monday, ending a nine day stressful period of car shopping during the pandemic (and about 1-2 years before I thought I'd had to). I've had some DMs asking if I would write a blog post dedicated to my experience on this and if I chose to buy or lease, so I'm planning to write that in the next couple weeks. Send me any specific questions if you have them!
  • Cute new TV show: I saw both Angela and Katie recommend the new ABC show The Baker and the Beauty, so this past week I decided to give it a try. It's adorable! A fun, feel good rom-com type show. It's about a guy named Daniel Garcia who works in his family's bakery in Miami, and he has a chance encounter in a restaurant with international superstar model Noa Hamilton. They begin a whirlwind romance, and of course Daniel's tight-knit family (and ex!) have many opinions. I recommend this if you're looking for something cute to watch right now.

Weekend recaps:
  • Last weekend: My friends and I had a socially distanced picnic for the third weekend in a row, and this time we did it at a new-to-us park, which was a fun way to kick off the weekend on Friday! Saturday I spent doing more test drives and dealer visits. Sunday I live-streamed a sermon and took one final test drive of the car I ended up getting the next day.
  • This weekend: ....I am actually (hopefully) going out of town! I've kept this pretty on the DL as I know people have a lot of opinions about travel right now (and rightfully so). It's a road trip to spend the long weekend with a good girlfriend from Charlottesville who moved to South Carolina at the end of last year. I've got my masks and wipes ready to go, we will be 100% avoiding any crowds of 10+ during the weekend, and we are hoping to spend most of the time either outdoors or in her home. This past week has been the worst for me mentally since COVID started, I'm really hoping to come back next week feeling refreshed.

Purchases:

Wishlist:
  • Nothing beats an elegant blue and white maxi dress for summer.
  • Pink and red is a favorite color combo of mine, this scarf features it and is beautiful.
  • This under $50 evening dress would be beautiful for summer formal events! So sad that we probably won't have many of those this year... save it for 2021?
  • A basic workout tank for under $10 that comes in some fun summery colors.
  • I know statement necklaces were more trendy a few years ago than now, but I love the pretty colors in this one!

Currently reading: Nothing currently! I finally finished last week's book a few days ago, and haven't had time to pick up a new one yet. Hoping to do more reading in June!

Recipe of the week: Hummingbird Cake from Retro Recipes from the 50s and 60s - I baked this over the weekend to celebrate finding the car I wanted to get. Hummingbird cakes are similar to a carrot cake but fruit based- this one called for banana and pineapple and I added coconut also!

Song of the week: Supalonely by Benee ft. Gus Dapperton - I'm pretty sure this song got popular from TikTok? I've been hearing it a lot on the radio this week and it's currently stuck in my head... but I don't hate it. Haha!

Favorite blog posts of the week:
  • Whimsy in Her Wardrobe - My friend Jordyn officially graduated from law school! I have been following her for years, and it is so wonderful to see all of her hard work come to fruition. This blog post recapping her time in law school was wonderful to read.
  • Coming Up Roses - Erica reviewed and shared a drugstore dupe lipstick for the famous Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk lipstick. I love a good dupe so I can't wait to try this!
  • Amy Believes in Pink - Amy's family threw her sister the cutest at home college graduation ceremony and virtual party! My heart breaks for all of the 2020 grads who didn't get the ceremony that they were supposed to- I hope everyone graduating this spring got an at-home celebration as nice as this one!

On the blog this week:

     God Bless,

     xoxo Annaliese

  1. Congrats on your new car! I find car shopping always so stressful!
Loving that dress on your wish list! So pretty and perfect for summer!
Hope all works out and that you can get out of town this weekend! Everything is still in lockdown mode in IL but we were able to drive to Iowa a couple of weekends ago where life seems so much more normal than in IL even though we're just one hour away.

You are like the 5th person to recommend the Baker Beauty show! I need a new show, so I think I'll give it a shot.
