Ramblings:
- In love with DC: As I shared on Instagram, I spent Easter Weekend in Washington DC. I mainly wanted to visit to see my friend who lived there, and also to cross seeing the cherry blossoms off my travel bucket list. What I was not expecting was how much I'd fall in love with DC as a city- oh my goodness!! I think it's definitely in my Top 3 favorite US cities to visit now, and I already cannot wait to go back. Not only is there so much to do in regards to culture and history, but the city is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I could have spent at least a few days just wandering all of the cute neighborhoods and looking at the beautiful houses and town homes. There's also world class food and shopping. I am so excited that Charlottesville is just two hours away- it makes it very convenient for summer weekend trips to DC!
- Radiothon: Tomorrow and Friday at my job are going to be crazy busy but very important days at work! Both days are 12 hour long (6 am to 6 pm) live Radiothons to benefit a local children's hospital. Long time SBIT readers might remember that I spent two years in undergrad interning for the Ryan Seacrest Foundation at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, so I love the fact that my new employer does something so great to support a local children's hospital. It definitely be two long days, but it should have an awesome end result, and I'm looking forward to the extra hours to get to know some of my new coworkers better! I'm so thankful that the new job has been going well. 😊
- First blog shoot in Cville: I absolutely LOVE being here in Virginia (both working here and also living here), but I would be lying to say that I haven't felt a bit overwhelmed since my move. I started work just two days after moving, and it's been hard to find the time to really tackle the rest of my unpacking and "feel settled" between work, blogging, and going away this weekend! Anyways, yesterday morning I had my first blog photoshoot since moving to Charlottesville!! One of my new photographers is the incredible Meredith Sledge. Here's another SBIT #tbt moment- I did a couple of shoots with Meredith in 2014/15 (first when she visited Charlotte for a weekend!), she was actually the very first professional photographer I ever shot with on the blog! Meredith is from Charlottesville and I was SO excited that she lived in the area I'd be moving to. We had a blast yesterday morning, and it felt so good to get back into a blog routine with new content. I've been putting a lot of pressure on myself as I've only had time to post three times on the blog last week and this week... I know this photoshoot was motivation for me to get back on my regular grind!
- Unpacking deadline: Speaking of unpacking and feeling settled in to my new apartment, I've officially SET A DEADLINE for myself!!! I'm going to have all the boxes and bubble wrap out of the apartment and every suitcase unpacked by May 18th, two months after I moved in! I think that's a fair amount of time to be settled (given my work schedule). Now that I've written this on the blog, I have to hold myself accountable! PS- I'm starting a moving out-of-state blog post mini series next week! If you have any questions, send them my way.
Purchases:
- On Monday, LOFT was having a surprise 50% off entire store sale. Charlottesville has a LOFT (Vermont's closed during the time I lived there) so I decided to pop in before work! I sure have missed getting to shop in-person at some of my favorite stores. I found the most darling printed faux-wrap dress! It will be great to wear for both work and weekends this spring. The dress I bought isn't on the website... I'm not sure if it's a brand new arrival or in-store only? But this one is a very similar style (just a solid color).
- Because I am a hardcore tourist I also bought ALL of the touristy things in DC this weekend as well. Keychain, magnet, postcards... does anyone else has a problem buying literally everything from souvenir shops when they travel? I am the worst in airports!
Wishlist:
- My LOFT was sold out of this gorgeous spring top in my size, but it was so cute!! I might have to order online.
- I bought a tie waist shirt a few weeks ago during my last shopping trip to Montreal, and now I want this type of shirt in other colors and prints. I love this one in the blue and white stripes!
- I LOVE this color pink- these are like my dream colored pumps!
- A cute striped off the shoulder top that just screams weekend fun! As of the time that I'm writing this post (one day before), it's on sale for 40% off.
- I anticipate being in my current apartment for awhile, so I'm having a lot of fun planning out how I want to decorate it over a longer period of time. I'm currently dreaming of coffee tables like this one!
Recipe of the week: Ugh- just when I thought I got back into the groove last week with starting to cook in the new apartment... I left to go away for the weekend and then return to Radiothon week at work! Hello week of frozen pizza. #health Anyways, here is a favorite recipe from my Pinterest boards. These Black Bean and Rice Burritos are one of the cheapest pantry meals that I love to make, and are also vegetarian!
Song of the week: Trust Fund Baby by Why Don't We. I did a new Top 40 music segment called HOT or NOT at my former job in Vermont, and this was one of the last songs that I played for that. Why Don't We is a newer boyband, and this song has grown a lot on me as it's very catchy!
On the blog this week: I'm hoping to be back to my regular four posts weekly (maybe even five!) by next week!
Enjoy the rest of your week, friends!! Thank you so much as always for stopping by my blog.
God Bless,
xoxo Annaliese

DC in the spring is magical! We went for spring break once when I was a kid and I still remember seeing the cherry blossoms! I got to see the cherry blossoms in Japan a few years ago and they were so beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThis was so fun to read! I totally know what you mean by feeling overwhelmed having to work on day 2 of moving to a new place. I did that in DC several years ago. It would be weird not to feel that way!! I've heard great things about Charlottesville (I'm in Raleigh and have been meaning to check it out for a weekend)!
