Bible Verses for Single Girls on Valentine's.

I shared in last Monday's post how after reading the results of my first reader survey (which I will be recapping on the blog this week!) that I'll be sharing more personal posts about topics that I hope y'all can relate to and enjoy. One of these topic categories is that of relationships, singleness and dating. My first post about this last week went over so well that I'm already jumping right into another one, and it also seemed fitting since Valentine's Day is tomorrow! I plan to be sharing Relationship Monday posts about 1-2 times a month going forward.

Ah, Valentine's Day. It's the ultimate Hallmark holiday, yet it can be a sadder experience if you're single during this time of year. It can absolutely be hard not to get caught up in the comparison game during Valentine's, when it can seem like everyone you know is oversharing about their relationship and/or Valentine's date plans on social media, and there's a sea of pink and red romantic gifts staring you down every time you're at the grocery store or mall. It's hard, I get it.

For me personally, some years are harder than other years as far as Valentine's. It all depends what is going on in my life at that time of year, and if I've had feelings for anyone recently or been dating anyone. Two years ago, I remember that it was an especially rough Valentine's. During my junior year of college, I had really strong feelings for a guy who wasn't interested in anything serious, and it was right around Valentine's that we finally stopped talking. For months I had built it up in my head that on February 14th I was going to have these big romantic plans with him... and then I ended up spending the weekend babysitting. Last year though, it wasn't as bad at all. I remember spending the weekend relaxing, doing homework, and with friends at college. So the feelings regarding being single over Valentine's can really vary.

This year is another harder year for me, due to a few different circumstances which now isn't the time to get into (maybe next year). But something that has changed for me this year in how I'm viewing this time of year, as opposed to years past of being single over Valentine's, is that I'm giving my singleness completely to the Lord. I have an overwhelming peace surrounding me this year that He has an exact purpose for my singleness again over Valentine's this year, and that the greatest Valentine of all is the eternal love of Jesus. (It might sound like a Christian cliche... but it's true!) During moments when the comparison game or feelings of discontentment grow, I'm trying to pray more and think about bible verses such as these. Fellow single gals: I hope that these verses will be an encouragement to you not only during Valentine's, but at all times of the year!!

*"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." -Jeremiah 29:11

*Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. -Proverbs 3:5

*The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness... -2 Peter 3:9

*"So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they only seemed like a few days to him because of his love for her." -Genesis 29:20

*Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope..." -Romans 5:3-4

Fellow single gals: I hope that these verses will be a blessing to you during this Valentine's week! And I hope that all of you have a great Valentine's day- whether you're single, dating, married... I hope it's filled with lots of love and blessings (and a cute pink and red outfit! 😉)

  1. Hey thanks so much for such wonderful posts like this one! I'm single, and it can be challenging at times, but waiting for God's best will make it all worthwhile! God's got great plans for you! Can't wait to hear all about them in the next few years. ;)

  3. By dating the manuscripts, the Bible can prove itself historically reliable. A well-known archeologist said that "the average gap between an original composition and the earliest available copy is over 1,000 years for other works of manuscript" (N. Open Heaven 2019 Devotional
