Popping in on this Tuesday morning with a little life update: I am starting a new career today!
This has been quite a longtime coming! I feel like most of you know this by now, but in case anyone newer is reading, I lost my beloved radio career of seven years in April 2024, after an unexpected layoff. I started working as a Front Desk Agent at a local hotel at the Virignia Beach Oceanfront just one month later. (I learned quickly I wasn't good at being unemployed, lol!) I thought that my time at the hotel would just be a very temporary job to get me through my November 2024 wedding. Due to a very challenging local job market, I ended up being at the hotel a full six months past my wedding. My last day at the hotel was just a few days shy of what would've been my one year work anniversary.
I am starting a new career today in the field of Higher Education! I've was interested in jobs in Higher Education for the majority of my job search, and was really happy that one of the ones I applied to finally panned out into my next career move. This job will be a big change in a lot of ways! For the first time since 2018, I'll have later instead of earlier work hours again. That will be a transition for sure, as I spent years doing morning radio, followed by a year of predominantly working earlier shifts at the hotel. Another big change: my new job has a business professional dress code! I am actually really looking forward to this. In radio I was often overdressed at work, and it'll be a fun fashion challenge for me to put together daily outfits for this new job.
Whenever I experience some sort of big life event, I always get a little sentimental thinking about all of the seasons of life that this blog has been with me through. From my very first post as a college freshman to now... there's been a lot of life lived! Whether you've been here since the beginning or found me more recently, I'm so thankful you're here. And thank you to everyone who has been so supportive over the past year following my radio career loss and job search process. So many followers sent me the kindest comments, DMs and emails over the past year, and it truly provided so much encouragement in a season of uncertainty.
My next chapter starts TODAY!
God Bless,
xoxo Annaliese
Congratulations Annaliese! So happy for you!
