I think we are long overdue for a good ol' fashioned outfit post here on the blog... is it 2015 again? 😊

Although I started this blog in 2012 mainly as a way to document my outfits, I don't do much true "fashion blogging" anymore. Part of that is from taking a step back from blogging as often as I used to, but a large part is also that I've felt kind of disconnected from trendy fashion for the last few years (basically since the pandemic!). I feel like I don't understand a lot of Gen Z fashion at all, and for the last year or two I've really started to feel my age when it comes to fashion trends that I feel too old for, or just don't get. For example: I will never put a pair of cargo pants on my body, unless it's for some sort of Halloween costume or Y2K theme party. Even if Lilly Pulitzer started making cargo pants, I'm not wearing them! 😂 That's just one of many current trends that I don't get.
But there is one trend as of the past year or two that I am all about: the lady jacket! It's not quite blazer, not quite cardigan. It's elegant, feminine, and professional. Throw one on with jeans and a t-shirt, and your outfit is instantly elevated and more chic. Or pair them with a coordinating skirt or dress for a dressier look. As soon as I saw this aquamarine Lady Jacket cardigan last year, I knew I needed it. Aquamarine is my favorite color! (I feel like a lot of people think my favorite color is pink because I wear a lot of pink more frequently, but it's actually aquamarine.) I patiently waited for it to go on sale, and it made it much more satisfying when I finally got it.
I styled this with jeans and a blouse, leather flats, and one of my new favorite purses! It's a Kate Spade bag that's probably 8-10 years old, but I got such a good deal on it from a consignment store while in Florida earlier this year. And it's also aquamarine!! Love that I've added some new-to-me things in my favorite color to my closet this year.
I hope that you're having a great week! I know this time of the year is always so busy with the holidays. I feel like my weekends in December are always so booked up with plans, both work events and social plans. Granted, it's all fun plans that I really look forward to of course! But I wish I did have more free time in this month each year. I have so many blog post ideas that I'd like to get published before the end of the year, but I'm not sure I'll have time to do all of them. At the very least, I'd like to publish at least one more Wedding Wednesday post, and of course my annual Year in Review post, which is always my favorite post to write each year! Here's to hopefully getting all of this done in the next couple of weeks.
God Bless,
xoxo Annaliese
I didn't know this was called a lady jacket- but that's the perfect name! It's so classy and ladylike. Totally feel you on the trends. There are some cute things, but mostly at this point I'm set in my ways.
