{Monthly} Midweek Ramblings

 February 2023:

Highs of the Month:

  • Ryan surprising me with a big bouquet of red roses and chocolates a few days before Valentine's (after we agreed not to do gifts for Valentine's, so I was extra surprised 😊).
  • Finally throwing my best friend Ciera's bachelorette party trip in Nashville, after many months of planning!
  • Another month of more extremely warm weather! This has been the warmest winter of my entire life. It even hit 80 degrees one day in February and broke a record for this area!

Lows of the Month:

  • Being in a lot of pain for most of the month from my ongoing hip issues. It all started around the start of February, and progressively got worse as the month went on. I didn't get my official diagnosis for what's going on until March 1st, so all of February was a month with a lot of pain and medical uncertainty/anxiety.
  • Having to stay home and rest a lot more than normal thanks to the ongoing hip pain, and cancelling a fun weekend in Richmond that I was looking forward to. I'm not very good at being a homebody (or at least not very good at it in a small one bedroom apartment).
  • Not being able to participate in the non-refundable private dance class during Ciera's bachelorette trip in Nashville because of my hip. I took photos and videos of everyone else but was sad I couldn't join in, haha!

February Weekend Recaps:

  • 3rd-5th - This was the weekend that my hip pain started being noticeable, and that Monday  was the day the pain really kicked into high gear. So I guess this was my last weekend of semi-normalcy before pain got too bad! On Saturday, I met some Junior League friends for brunch at a local spot where we treated our friend Kelly-Anne for her meal. Kelly-Anne's family has had some unexpected hardships over the last year (read about it here on her blog), so it was wonderful to spend a morning recognizing her. On Saturday night, Ryan and I got Chinese takeout and watched TV. On Sunday, I went to church and then met my friend Sara-Sullivan for a walk in downtown Norfolk! That evening, I met my Junior League friend Kerry at Panera Bread to work on thank-you notes for donors from Junior League's Annual Giving Week (which was the week before).
  • 10th-12th - Nashville for Ciera's Bachelorette trip!! I was in a lot of hip pain (especially during my travel day on Friday), but I toughed it out. I got home around 7:30pm that Sunday evening, just in time to unpack a bit before watching the Super Bowl Half Time show!
  • 17th-19th - Ryan and I were supposed to go to Richmond to see some friends of mine. Unfortunately, my hip pain had gotten really bad by this weekend, and there's no way I could've been in the car for that long. I wasn't able to do much of anything that weekend or drive very long distances. And I wasn't in the best mood because of it. Ryan and I did make it to church, but that was about it, I think.
  • 24th-26th - On Saturday, I was able to get an MRI for my hip in Chesapeake (Chesapeake is one of the nearby cities in Hampton Roads). That took up a good chunk of the afternoon. Ryan then treated me to an early dinner at Red Robin, since it was near the MRI facility! We then went back to my apartment and caught up on You Season 4. On Sunday, Ryan and I went to church. I then came home and cleaned up my apartment and then hosted my Junior League friend Hanna for a little afternoon tea, which was a fun ending to the weekend! I was still in a good deal of hip pain, but it was definitely a better weekend than the one prior.

February Purchases:

  • For months now, I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of cropped white flare jeans with a distressed hem. I finally found exactly the pair I've been looking for! (I read a review before buying that said they run small, and I found that to be true. I'd expect to order a size or two larger than your normal.)
  • I also restocked on my favorite high-end foundation! I always wait to buy this until a department store is doing a free gift-with-purchase, and Dillard's had a great offer for this in February, so I took advantage.
  • I was excited to find a Lilly Pulitzer Etta Top in a fun travel themed print at a local consignment store! I was able to score it for under $20.
