Money Saving Tips for Back-to-School.

Today's post is sponsored by Groupon Coupons. All opinions are honest and my own. Thank-you for supporting the brands that support Southern Belle in Training. #ad #GrouponCoupons

With back to school season beginning, it can be that time of the year when summer employment income ends for most students as they prepare to head back to the classroom. This also means that it's back to budgets and money management. It can be very easy to lose track of your money quickly when you're in high school or college. I always tried to practice smart savings and tithing practices in addition to spending, but seeing so many peers around me that had terrible money habits would always make me scared to not fall into some of their destructive patterns.

Even if you're out of high school and college (like I am now! #old), coming out of the summer season can still be a great time to revaluate some spending habits and figure out little ways to cut your weekly or monthly spending, while still living comfortably and treating yourself from time to time!

*Using these special birthday month discounts for designer jewelry purchases: I wrote a blog post all about this last year, and it's my most trafficked post from 2015! Check it out here for all of the details about this great bargain hack.

*Sell your clothes: Most of us have a lot of unwanted clutter in our closets, and a lot of it is items that we don't even wear anymore! Take your unused clothes to local consignment shops to try and earn some extra cash! You'll feel great to have more space in your room and closet, and someone will love your unwanted clothes more than you did. And the best part is that you can make some extra cash by doing this! I have a preferred local consignment shop that I sell to regularly, and whatever they don't accept I try and take to my local Plato's Closet.

*Sign up for Uber and Lyft emails: I'm all about unsubscribing to most emails, especially anything from retail stores. I hate having a cluttered inbox, and I find that most emails containing coupons either encourage me to spend money that I don't need to spend, or I forget to use the coupons when I actually need them! However- Uber and Lyft emails are an except to this rule. Since I live in a large metropolitan area, Uber and Lyft are services that I use quite often on weekends. Their emails can provide everything from free rides and discount codes to important city or event updates. Who doesn't want a free Uber on the house from Uber from time to time?! This one is especially practical for everyone in college reading!

*Order tea instead of your favorite Frappucino: It's no secret that weekly drink costs at Starbucks or your local coffee shop can quickly add up! If making your hot beverage at home just won't do for you, try ordering tea next time that you're at a coffee shop! It's much cheaper than most fancy coffee drinks, and lower in calories and sugar as well! I am a huge tea drinker, and I find that black tea has a similar caffeine affect on me as coffee drinks.

*Turn off cell phone data: No one likes to pay overage fees on cell phone data! It is so easy to hit the cellular data off switch on your phone, and to just run on wifi when it is available. You'll still have access to all of your favorite apps, and won't run the risk of paying data overage fees!

*Use Groupon CouponsWhenever you're online shopping, be sure to check out Groupon Coupons to assist you in finding the best deals and steals! Did you know that Groupon Coupons has money-saving coupons for everything from retailers like J. Crew Factory and Macy's to travel companies like Hotwire and Hotels.com? I always thought that Groupon was just for buying discounted certificates for local restaurants and businesses... I had no idea that they had such an expansive coupon section of their website! If you're going to be shopping online- why not do so while saving money?

How are you saving money during the back-to-school season?

  2. I always look on Groupon or Livingsocial for class passes before buying classes directly from a facility. It's a good way to try new workouts inexpensively!

  5. Fun fact: Frappucinos are 90% crushed ice, 5% flavoring, and 5% milk and base, they're so not worth the price and there's tons of other yummier, healthier drinks on the Starbz menu! Also, if you're worried about that data, T-Mobile has some AWESOME deals!
