A few months ago, we made an exciting upgrade to our master bedroom in our home. It was a low-effort upgrade that had pretty amazing results. (Isn't that the best type of home upgrade?) We got rid of the non-aesthetic shades that came with our master bedroom, and upgraded to chic wooden shades from Select Blinds. I'm excited to share a full review with you today, and keep reading for an exclusive discount code for Select Blinds below!

Below is a picture of the bay windows in our master bedroom with the shades that came with the house when we purchased it. While the shades were functional from a privacy perspective, they were not very aesthetic looking, and didn't really fit the design vibe that I had for the room (which is a fusion of coastal and grandmillennial chinoiserie vibes, with an emphasis on the aqua/mint colors with gold accents). Ryan painted our master bedroom from the neon sky blue color that the old owners had it to a cheerful yet more muted light aqua prior to move-in, and I splurged on new master bedding right after the move. But the old window shades that came with the room sat untouched for those first weeks in the house.

SelectBlinds happened to reach out to partner with me just a few weeks after we moved into our home, which was truly perfect timing. They carry such a wide array of chic custom window treatments; everything from roman shades to every type of blind and shutter under the sun. I was especially intrigued by their No-Drill blinds... those seemed easy enough to install that I even I could do it! I had gotten these sheer but beautiful scalloped linen curtains as wedding gifts from my registry, and I knew I wanted some type of shade that would coordinate better with those. I thought a wooden shade would go well, but wanted to try a few colors and styles of cloth shades as well. SelectBlinds always offers free samples, which was great for figuring out what I wanted next in the space, and also what would best match these curtains.
Pictured above are the samples that we received! Ryan and I both decided pretty quickly that we liked the Essence Woven Wooden Shade in Serene Sand. The colors of the wood in these slightly vary which gives the shades a beautiful and unique look. I also thought the sample paired very well with the curtains I had!
Ryan and I installed the new shades together in November. We got them in the No-Drill style, and they really do just kind of pop right into your windows! You do need to measure very precisely, but they really do custom fit the shades or blinds exactly tailored for your windows.
We've now had our new shades for a few months, and I still love them so much! They are a more sheer wooden shade, but I love how that allows them to still let so much light in during daytime hours. (And with the curtains closed over them, they are fully private!) I think they look wonderful with these curtains and the rest of our master bedroom- the perfect coastal grandmillennial window treatment vibes!
SelectBlinds was so kind as to give me a wonderful promo code, and I'm so excited to share that with you today. You can use ANNALIESE10 for 10% off any window treatments on their website! The best part is that you can stack my code and use it on top of any already existing discounts! SelectBlinds runs incredible sales and promotions throughout the year, so I love that you can use this for an extra discount on top of their already great prices. Happy blind, shade and curtain shopping!
Looking forward to sharing more design updates from our new home soon! In the meantime, you can follow my new home project + decor focused Instagram account @home.sweet.mead for more regular house updates.
