{Monthly} Midweek Ramblings: June 2025

Highs of the Month:
  • My new job is still going so well! The dust has been settling as I wrapped up training in June. I am still really enjoying my new job. Whatever expectations I had about it before starting have been so exceeded. I am truly still so thankful to have this job and a new career chapter in higher education, after my lengthy and difficult job search!
  • I got to play golf a good amount in June! I am so thankful for this wonderful sport that I fell in love with playing a few years ago. While I am still very much a beginner, it is really satisfying to get to see improvement in my scores and swings even from this time last year! I'm hoping the rest of 2025 is filled with even more golf.
  • My friend Emily and I finally got to attend a country concert together, after 6 years of trying! We have always had the worst luck with concerts. Sometimes it's the artist who cancels the show, or sometimes it's life circumstances that prevent us. But we finally did it! We got to see Megan Moroney in Richmond in June. Megan started to get really popular during my final year working in country radio, and I just love her! She not only has great song lyrics and musical talent, but I love her sense of style and outfits too.

Lows of the Month:
  • Ryan and I had a lot of serious conversations in June about some upcoming potential decisions and life changes for us. (Before you read any further or jump to conclusions: I'm not pregnant! And none of these conversations are about trying to have children right now. That's not on the agenda for us in 2025! 😊) While it is really exciting to be making "adulting" decisions with your spouse, it can also be stressful to have these deeper conversations! There can be conflicting viewpoints, or lots of pros and cons to sort and weigh out. Between starting my new job in late May and then jumping into a lot of serious conversations and research on certain things in June, my brain has been a little fried. There were many days in June that I was a bit emotional about some potential life happenings to come, even though they're all good things. I know all of these decisions will pay off though! Hopefully some really good things to come within the next year or so for us.
  • Our apartment fire alarms malfunctioned last Saturday night, and they went off three times between 4-5:30am. (And there was no fire or smoke in our unit or the apartment building! Truly just a weird glitch.) Knock-on-wood it hasn't happened again since, but it was so startling and disrupting to our sleep that night. Although I am of course thankful it was just a glitch and not an actual fire.
  • While seeing Megan Moroney in concert this month was a high, it was also a low due to how awful the concert venue was. Megan performed at Virginia Credit Union Live!, which is a small "makeshift" amphitheater located in the parking lot of the racetrack in Richmond. Everything about this venue kind of stunk: from the entry process to the seats and sound quality to the video screens. Ambiance and vibes of a location of a concert are honestly just as important as who is performing! I probably wouldn't go to a show at this specific venue again.

June Weekend Recaps:
  • 6th-8th - Ryan helped me shoot some Instagram content for a collaboration on Friday evening after work. Saturday was busy and fun! I played in a ladies golf scramble with my friend Amanda in the afternoon. In the evening, Ryan and I went to Downtown Norfolk for the fireworks display for their annual Harborfest event. It was our first time seeing this fireworks display, and I'm so glad that some of our friends invited us to go! We went to church Sunday morning, and I worked on blog stuff and Instagram content for the rest of the afternoon.
  • 13th-15th - A whirlwind weekend! I left work early on Friday to head to Richmond to meet my friend Emily and go to see Megan Moroney in concert. We spent the night after the show at a hotel downtown, and we had brunch at our friend Sierra's new house in Richmond on Saturday morning! I then drove back to Virginia Beach, and went to the pool later in the day. On Sunday we went to church, and then headed over to Ryan's parents house to celebrate Father's Day.
  • 20th-22nd- A really busy but wonderful weekend. On Friday night after work I met a bunch of girlfriends in Downtown Norfolk for Mexican food, and then we went to a nearby bar / lounge for cocktails after. On Saturday I started the day by attending a ladies golf clinic. On Saturday afternoon, I attended my friend Kathryn's baby shower! Saturday night was date night for Ryan and I, and we went out to a local rooftop restaurant (that we hadn't been to together in three years!). On Sunday we went to church, and then spent the afternoon at the beach. Honestly a pretty great summer weekend!
  • 27-29th - I was off work on Friday since I had to work the following day. Ryan and I had a (non-work) meeting to attend Friday afternoon. I golfed with my friend Amanda Friday evening! I had to work most of the day Saturday, but on Saturday night we went to dinner at a new-to-us restaurant with another couple for a double date. In the middle of the night Saturday our fire alarms malfunctioned and went off a few times, which was the worst part of the weekend! 😐 We slept in on Sunday, and then went for a walk at Norfolk Botanical Garden. I then spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool.

June Purchases:
  • Most of my personal shopping this month was all work related for my new job! But I did fall victim to buying a couple of miscellaneous fun items at Target this month as well. The first was this under $10 cute waterproof pouch for the pool and beach! It comes with a clip for easy attachment to your pool or beach bag.
  • Let's move over to work purchases. My favorite work dress for my new job that I already owned in navy was on sale this month, so I repurchased it in black! The fabric is so soft and comfortable, and it's such a versatile dress.
  • I also bought a dress from my Armoire clothing rental subscription in June! I love that you can buy out the pieces that you really love. I purchased this chic green dress for work. I got so many compliments on it when I wore it, and I just couldn't part with it when it was time to return it.

June Wishlist:
  • I am absolutely obsessed with the fun Italian summer themed print of this summer dress! Unfortunately it's a bit too expensive for me to consider buying it (especially when I already own a ton of sundresses), but it's still so cute.
  • Another fun summer vacation inspired find: I love this matching top and skirt set and the cute seashell pattern. You could easily style each of these pieces individually.
  • These nude summer block heel sandals are so chic, and I love the unique detail with the gold ball. I have several pairs of nude summer sandals and heels already (which is why I haven't bought these).
  • This patriotic lobster summer sweater is giving all of the New England summer vibes! If I was going home to Maine this summer like most years, there's a high chance I would've bought this already.
  • I love this brand for nicer tops, and the colors and print of this puff sleeve top are very unique! I think it's workable for the office as long as you paired it with a solid colored skirt or dress pants.
